He looks big and scary but he's actually a big softy who doesn't like scaring people if he can help it!

Light up the Sea

Summary: Burrog brings back shinies

Warnings: Feels 

Nervousness was not an unfamiliar feeling for Burrog. Especially when it comes to returning to the Zora’s Domain. Perhaps a part of him fears that he will not be accepted back in. An unreasonable thought, he was well aware, however it always lingered in the back of his mind. 

He was returning after another trip back to his own… home was far from the correct word for it. He had gone to visit his fellow Zora who lived in the Ocean, checking on his father and hunting for a few days before returning. Not only did he have fish to sell this time, but he had also brought some gifts for the one person who would always make him feel welcome. 

Speaking of the devilfish, there he is. Burr hesitated, fidgeting with the bag in his hands. It was somewhat small in comparison to his hands, but would easily be an armload for a Hylian. Finally mustering up the courage, Burr approached Prince Sidon, who had been looking up at the statue of Mipha in the center of the Domain. “Pri-” he started, his voice remaining surprisingly soft despite it’s deep and gravely nature. 

Sidon reacted quickly, turning to face him and soon flashing him a large smile. “Burr! How many times must I reassure you that you do not need to be so formal with me?” He asked, his voice louder than his fellow Zora, but not by much for now. 

Burrog’s shoulders shook with silent chuckles, his posture relaxing ever so slightly. “A lot more.” He answered, only half joking. “But… I have something for you.” He said, holding the bag up to draw Sidon’s attention to it. The bag was simple, a deep brown leather that was still damp from the trip, tied tightly with a blue rope. 

“What is it?” Sidon asked as he took the bag, not even waiting for an answer as he started to open the bag, ever careful of his claws. “You didn’t have to bring me anything though! You bring back so much for the Domain as is.” 

“I saw them and figured you would enjoy it.” Burr insisted, giving him an unsure smile which only showed off hints of his sharp teeth. 

Soon, Sidon was carefully tilting the contents of the bag into his palm. Inside were what appeared to be shards of glass, mostly in blues and greens with a few reds and oranges, all somewhat opaque. “We call it sea glass… I don’t think you have it here. At least, I haven’t seen any… it catches the light pretty.” Burr said, holding up a remaining shard that he held in his hand, an aqua blue one similar to his markings and the cloths the Champions wore. He turned it slightly so Sidon could see the remaining sunlight filtering through it. “It is common for decoration, mostly for those who live closer to the surface.” He explained as best as he could. “You can hang them on string or rope. They move with the breeze.” 

Once he was done talking, he spent a moment to stare at the shard in his palm for a moment longer before gently placing it at the statue’s feet. Afterwards he felt a hand on his shoulder, looking over to see Sidon giving him a genuine smile, having closed the bag up with the shards inside for now. “I really appreciate this, Burrog. These will look wonderful around the Domain!” He added, even giving him a one armed hug for emphasis. Sidon understood better than anyone how much even small shows of appreciation meant to his friend. 

Over the next few days, pieces of sea glass were hung on strings around Zora’s Domain, including a strand in Burrog’s room that showed up there while he was playing with the children of the Domain. The very top piece was a very familiar shade of red, which made his smile sadden some. “How fitting…” He said softly to no one in particular, gently tapping it with a claw to make it start spinning. Taking his seat on his bed, he watched the colors shift around his room slowly.

Third piece for Zora May 2024~!

This time it's my Zora babes in a Hylian AU! ...kinda XD My version of one at least, where basically the Zora aren't fish people but still have the ocean-themed culture and things like that, if that makes any sense?

Poor Baki almost didn't fit into the frame, but I refuse to draw legs, soooo :P

Thanks to the Zora OC Discord Server I got the idea to draw Burrog and Lurete as babies! Burrog’s tail was too long for him to walk without tripping over it when he was little. And Lurete is precious!

A new Zora OC of mine, named Burrog! He’s slightly based on an electric eel (with lots of liberties taken, obviously). Honestly really enjoying his character as I’m developing it so far, even if I haven’t managed to draw him like I’m picturing yet...

Poor guy needs a hug ;-; I just made him today and he’s been through a lot.
