Time seems endless, though it must only be a few days. An occasional bead of wax will roll down the side of the candle and scald her skin, but this is nothing in the face of the constant agony in her stomach. Impaled, iron-burned, weighed down by wax, aching with hunger, too many hurts all blurred into unrelenting misery.
