THE DESMONDS FINALLY GETTING THERAPY AND FROM LOID OF ALL PEOPLE IS ACTUALLY SO IMPORTANT TO ME
GIVE ME A HIGH FIVE OR A HUG PLEASE
I FINALLY TALKED WITH A NON TEACHER AT THE ARCHERY CLUB AND IT WASNT FORCED
just drove 15 km/h around an empty parking lot and only felt like crying after i was no longer behind the wheel 🥳
Me 3 years ago: All my friends and family secretly hate me and the world would be better off if I just ran off and was never seen again.
Me now: I still hate myself and I don’t give a HECK about it. If everyone else hates me too that’s their problem for not telling me to piss off when they had the chance! If you want me gone tell me yourself, cowards. And then I’ll just eat some bread and get over it because I’ve got things to do! *does a terrible guitar riff*
So I went to go see The Rise of Skywalker last night and I ended up getting super emotional during the previews. It’s a big movie, right? So they’re doing the big previews. Onward (which I’m really excited for tbh), Top Gun (no thanks), and some other unmemorable movie with a sausage fest ensemble.
Then...Black Widow. Natasha freaking Romanoff in HER OWN movie. Focused on her and her journey and her strengths and her general kickassery. Not as an accessory or a side dish, not as the obligatory eye candy in a cast of men, but the main dish. She’s the feature. And when the preview was over, I thought damn, I need to see that multiple times so tptb understand that we want this. We want movies with strong female protagonists that aren’t reduced to a two dimensional love interest.
But then my musings were cut short because the next preview started. Mulan. A story of a woman that saved her dad by posing as a soldier at a time that she could be put to death for impersonating a man. Another movie featuring a kickass woman as the protagonist.
And it occurred to me...another preview. Another. Never in my almost 38 years of existence have I ever gone to a movie that showed two previews of movies featuring women in this capacity. Never. Sure there were movies about princesses or that had women in them as sidekicks...but as the main character in her own feature? Those came along periodically but never enough and certainly never two at a time.
I’m so damn excited for the kids and teens that get to grow up with this representation. I wish I could’ve had this as a kid, but I’m grateful to get it now. And I’ll do everything in my power to support these movies so they keep coming.
i finally drew some things that dont look awful!
