I constantly think about the fact that Charles running to distract the guards after the Saint Denis heist goes wrong is the last they see of him until they return from Guarma
Meaning Arthur has no idea if Charles is even alive and, knowing his self-loathing/guilt issues, probably blames himself for it
AND
Charles, after hiding out, goes and finds Sadie & co, only to find out the others never made it back and are nowhere to be seen. Meaning he probably felt like he abandoned them (even though he literally saved all of their lives), as well as not knowing if any of them were alive or not
Like yeah no wonder he's the only person Arthur hugs after arriving at Lakay (Abigail not included bc she hugs him), I can't even imagine the immense relief they'd both feel in that moment of realizing the other was alive and safe 😭
