revisiting Lolita (1997) for LO parallels and remembering that scene where Dolores is participating in a play that isn't based on anything in particular as in-universe it's a play written by the same character who would go on to sex traffic Dolores

from what we're very briefly told through the characters is that the play is about a nymph who seduces hunters into the forest before turning into a witch and y'know it's kinda got that Shakespearean Greek myth vibe to it

but then a pal just HAD to drop it on me in the ULO chat that the premise of the play is a lil' similar to The Maiden and i-

Re: Arnold Schwarzenegger being Jean's commencement speaker...

After it's announced, everyone keeps making jokes and doing their best impersonations and Jean... doesn't get it. He asks Cat why the fuck people keep talking like that.

Cat and Laila (and Jeremy if he's in town) force Jean to watch Terminator 2 because "it's better, and the first one really isn't necessary." Afterwards Jean stares at them for a moment before clarifying that "This man is going to speak at our graduation?"

"Yeah, because he's the governor."

"This man is the governor of California?"

"Uh huh."

"But he is an actor."

"So was Reagan."

"But he has an accent."

"He does."

And maybe later, when he's sitting in his cap and gown, when the governator says

"So let me tell you, as you prepare to go off into the world, remember those six rules:

Trust yourself, Break some rules, Don't be afraid to fail, Ignore the naysayers, Work like hell, and Give something back."

and
