I sunk my head below the water, letting the water flow into my mouth and nose. I blew out some water, just to have more invade my lungs. I didn't do much to resist my drowning. All I could do was look up to the surface where the light still shined and hit my face. It grew warm, contrasting my very cold body.

The more I fell into the water, the less I could feel the sun, and when my face became just as cold as my body, I began to panic. I was too deep. Too deep. The water became too heavy. My ears started to ring. All I could hear were the warnings of everyone else around me while I was still above the surface; Leave the water before you drown.

I said I didn't care if I drowned, but as I neared the bottom, I cared more than anything. All I wanted was to be on the surface.

Even as I thrashed, kicked, swung my arms to gain any sort of momentum to swim up, it was useless.
