This always makes me a little sad.

shadowsugar mention
it sounds like eternal sugar's asking hollyberry to elope
eternal sugar cookie? more like. escapism sugar cookie
TOXIC YURI!!
fellas what's gayer: being gay or locking the literal other half of your soul in your precious jewelry box so that they may be "happy" and "safe" in your twisted fucked up escapism paradise prison
hi, i'm here to cross-examine liushen for a couple minutes. i'm SURE i can write a compelling liushen fic if i tried. it's not like shen qingqiu and liu qingge are uninteresting, so this should work. i should totally be able to do this.
first thought is perhaps a roleswap of some kind...? maybe if you switch the transmigrator roles between them? but i'm leery getting rid of shen yuan's transmigrator role, because that's a pretty big part of what makes him shen yuan... (though this does lead to a possibly interesting liujiu case where shen jiu is the transmigrator also and maybe they both want to kill lbh?)
wait! WAIT! what if we kill shen qingqiu.
liu qingge kills shen qingqiu during his qi deviation. shen qingqiu manages to save liu qingge and snap him out of it, but at the cost of his own life. liu qingge wakes up perfectly sane and with a body at his feet in lingxi caves. he is wracked with horror and guilt. he might not have particularly liked sqq, but that didn't mean he wanted the guy dead. after the demon invasion thing, he confesses to shen qingqiu's death, and everyone's like 1) well you were out of your mind 2) he probably tried killing you first 3) we didn't like him that much anyway, it is finnnne. yue qingyuan pardons lqg. yue qingyuan, by the way, is having a terrible fucking time right now, but pshaww we don't care about him.
anyway. liu qingge. he's having a shitty shit shit time too. he goes to sleep and has terrible nightmares -- memories of what really happened in the lingxi caves, of sqq trying to help him, of killing sqq over and over and over --
someone shakes him awake.
liu qingge startles and instantly draws his sword, because hey, bai zhan war god, it ain't the best idea to startle the guy if you want to stay alive.
of course this isn't really a consideration if you're already dead.
liu qingge wakes up to shen qingqiu's slightly-transparent face looking down at him.
that's right. this is a story in which liu qingge drags around shen qingqiu's ghost!
Awkward return but I have come to present an au idea with Rody and more specifically rodydeku that I came up with and have been thinking about for a little while. So, taking place in an au where the war did not happen, there is no war in ba sing se, second year of UA deku and his classmates get the opportunity to do their work studies overseas (basically I'm playing off of MermaidMarie's fic, iykyk), and Deku ever so casually picks Otheon bc it'd be a good experience and he could help expand heroics into places where there aren't plus he's already familiar with the terrain!!! He wants to see Rody so fucking bad. Along with him comes Iida, Ochako (I miss my trio) as well as Kaminari and Mina. They end up working with the number one hero in Otheon, who is actually my oc whom I'm dropping into mha for recycle purposes. Please treat him nicely he is my baby boy.
Now as soon as soon they get there, Deku makes a beeline to Rody's workplace. He didn't tell him he was coming for reason of it wanting to be a surprise, but also because for some reason Rody hasn't been responding to his messages? That's weird. Anyway. He gets there, and sees Rody working but Rody doesn't notice him at first. Even though Deku was SURE they made eye contact a few times. Then, when Deku tries to talk to Rody he cuts him off in a customer service tone- "I'l be right with ya, man, just give me a second." And Deku is... confused. Sure, he did interrupt Rody's shift so maybe he's just busy at the moment- but he would've at least expected some sort of surprise from the latter. And yet, nothing. Cut to them actually talking and for some reason... Rody's acting like he doesn't know Deku at all. Deku assumes it's a joke, cause Rody likes to mess with him, and laughs it off. But Rody isn't laughing. He looks... confused, maybe even uncomfortable. Awkwardly, Deku decides to leave because CLEARLY Rody's upset at him. Which didn't make sense, bc nothing happened for him TO be upset at him, but regardless he feels guilty over something he doesn't know he did. So, few days pass, Deku tries to get in contact with Rody to apologize for whatever he did or at least try and talk, but nothing. No answer. So, Deku distracts himself with his work at the agency.
On maybe their fourth day, they come across a case where the criminal doesn't remember anything regarding their involvement in a crime, which is strange because there's a whole record on him. At first, they think he's lying to get away with it, but he's oddly genuine in his confusion. Then, when someone mentions the event, he gets a really bad headache. More cases like this pop up. Crimes regarding transport and theft of supply and the criminals not remembering anything of what happened. Mina makes an off-handed comment, "it's like their memory is gone!" And then it hits Deku all at once. Rody wasn't mad at him. Rody didn't even know who he was.
Come to think of it, he didn't even see Pino back there....
Aka, an au where Rody becomes a victim of a memory erasing quirk for whatever reason, a whole arc of someone pulling the strings behind a massive scheme, the Otheon government is actually insanely corrupt. And Deku grappling with the idea that maybe Rody is better off not remembering him at all.
Fluff Stancest HCs because I need them:
Mabel got them both blind boxes of different Anomalies when she came back from California as a "I MISSED YOU" gift. The secrets (2 of them) were silhouetted as being back to back. Stan and Ford both got each secret and it turned out to be a pair of twin anomalies (Doppelganger) that magnetize together. They sit on a shelf together in the house and they come with them on the boat. They argue who's the doppelganger and who's the original.
They both ask themselves "What would Stan/Ford do" in situations because they both think they're the better twin for a problem.
Ford changed all of Stan's socks to have the grippies because he is deathly afraid of Stan slipping and falling. Stan hates them, reminds him of being in the psych ward as a young adult but he knows it makes Ford less anxious so he wears them. Ford has also changed his socks so they have matching grippy socks, which does make Stan feel better and not feeling "othered". Mabel sends them pairs with cat paws on them and Dipper finds funny/jokey ones that he glued grippies on.
They both have a bad habit of staring at each other, like they're really here and not going anywhere. It makes them sappy and weepy after a while because it reminds him of how much time they missed.
They talk in the dark in whispers, telling each other parts of their life that feel too big for day time at normal speaking levels. Surprisingly, it has helped them jump through a few hurdles.
Their nightly routine is very "married couple". Domestic. Ford has to wear compression socks and arm sleeves due to his injuries and Stan is strong enough to pull and stretch the fabric in place easier than Ford. Ford is able to apply Voltaren cream to Stan's joints and also release tension in his shoulders and back. Ford reminds Stan to charge his hearing aids and brush his dentures and Stan tells Ford to put his glasses in a safe spot and to not sleep on his arm. They have a very normal bed time routine.
On top of that, bathroom privacy isn't a think anymore. Stan's brushing his dentures in the sink while Ford is in the shower and they'll talk like nothing is going on. Stan will try to sneak a peek and Ford will fling water on him all in the name of fun.
Stan jumps in Ford's showers all the time and either showers with him or tries to distract him from showering so they can have some hankey pankey. This resulted in Ford insisting on a shower chair in their shower on the boat because like hell will one of them get hurt some having sex in there. Stan and Ford will also pretend that Stan is a rogue stranger there to take Ford for himself or Ford roleplays being modest to his brother Stan and succumbs to his advances. It's all very light and playful and ends with them kissing and getting off.
If Stan's back hurts really bad, Ford will help him bathe. Cue the amazing shower chair and Ford's fingers in Stan's hair.
Stan learned how to use a Tens-Machine for Ford's chronic pain. (A Tens-Machine is a small machine that sends electricity to the muscle for pain management. Usually hurts but does provide pain relief by stimulating the nerves to block pain receptors.)
Ford encourages Stanley to create stories all of the time. Either it's fanfiction or comics, Ford looks forward to reading them. He's always enjoyed Stan's original stories as a kid and knew that he understood how to hook an audience and keep someone's attention. He's had a wild and free imagination since he was a kid and not a lot of adults can keep that as they age. If Stan isn't working on his The Duchess fanfiction, he's making kid comics of kids who swear and go on adventures and stay loyal to their friends. (To me, Stan is like a Calvin and Hobbes kinda comic artist)
Ford makes Stan go with him to his first convention in decades and gets overwhelmed with the amount of people, artists, events, and signings he could do. Stan helps him navigate what he wants to do and lets him relax when he thinks too much is happening. Ford wanted to dress up so bad but he knew that the stimulation of dressing up along with the convention space would have been too much. Stan promises that he'll dress up with him next time simply because he knows it will make Ford happy.
On the flip side, Ford takes Stan to a classic car meet up and gets to show off his recently refurbished El Diablo. He watches from the passenger seat as Stan preens and dances to the young guys about his baby and all the years he's had it and the adventures they've gone on and what he paid to buy her. His car was very popular and well received. At the end, Stan tells Ford that his favorite part of his car was the "Hot Mama" sitting inside it.
Ford will hold Stan's face and give him a bunch of kisses all over just because he's in love with him.
Stan gnaws on Ford's face because the cuteness aggression is very real to him. Ford is too awkward to do anything about it and is just happy that Stan is having a good time.
Stan records himself reading Ford's favorite nerd books and gives it to him as a present for his birthday. They're so bad and Stan messes up all the time and it's all one long recording with no edits or breaks. Stan will make his own remarks about the story and just start talking sometimes. They are Ford's favorite possession in the whole world and will listen to them when he misses Stan.
As much as Ford tells Stan that he would be a good dad, Stan likes to remind Ford that he too would make a create father. He sees the way that the twins light up when they're together. He sees the way that he speaks with them and encourages them and finds it admirable. Ford believes that he is too similar to their father in some ways, thus making him believe that he couldn't be a better father than their own father, but Stan reminds him that Ford is nothing like their father.
Ford will hear cheesy songs and think about Stan. He's also doodling in a super secret journal about Stan like he's back in highschool. The only difference is that he can't put Stan's name with his last name because they have the same last name.
Stan had to do the whole "Take a breath and just grab his hand" when they first started hand holding. It was a scary step for him but Ford always thought he was being a little dramatic. That was until Ford wanted to wrap his arm around Stan's shoulder and got sweaty just thinking about it.
Don't put these two on a dance floor. They are tearing it up and they do not care who's there. They are Goofy and Sylvia from The Extremely Goofy Movie.
Ford wants to go back and see Pines Pawns and Stan has to tell him that it was sold while he was gone because no one could take it over. The last that he heard it was abandon as much of the boardwalk is. They travel over back there anyway and take a trip down memory lane. They finish it by looking up at their old home, boarded up and deserted. Ford walks up the steps to see if the door is unlocked but notices that Stan hasn't looking away from their bedroom window. It's smashed in and dark. Ford comes back and takes Stan by the hand.
"I should have fought for you back then."
"You were just a kid."
"So were you."
He guides Stan up the steps.
"It never felt like home after you were kicked out. Not here, not at Backsupmore, not Gravity Falls, not in the portal. I didn't feel home until you brought me back but by then it was so foreign and strange that I couldn't enjoy it. I rationalized it, yes, but I couldn't feel it. But with you, Stan, I feel it all around me, even when I didn't want to. Now though, it's intoxicating. I had forgotten how wonderful it feels to be with you like this, as brothers and more. What I'm trying to say is I'm glad I'm finally home and I want nothing more than for you to come home too."
The door in unlocked and Ford steps inside, Stan standing on the landing between the steps and the door. There was unrushed tears in his eyes.
"I don't think I made my million yet."
"Oh, Stan. You've made so much more. Come here."
Stan crashes in to Ford as he walks through the door, sobbing in Ford's shoulder. After so long, he can finally come home in the arms of the person that made it a home.
"I love you, Stanley Pines."
"I love you, Stanford Pines."
I know intellectually that some things just have to work a certain way to make a video game work but I just got done playing tresspasser and honestly. I'm amazed Lavellan ever made it to Solas at the end. Every five minutes her arm violently slams her to the ground. It looks and sounds painful, like they are in agony. It's always struck me as a little weird how careless Solas is with a romanced inquisitor's life and by proxy the anchor. I get that he has his reasons to be all secretive and distant but the Doylist reason for him not to be transparent or to work with a romanced inquisitor makes more sense than the Watsonian one (kind of a hallmark of Solas's character writing tbh. His personality and his in game actions often seem incongruent) He can't be upfront with any version of the inquisitor because the game needs to hit certain plot beats. He is railroaded by the writers. But if we think of it practically, there are a thousand ways the Inquisitor could have died before they ever made it to Solas and even that aside, they've been in agony, actively dying from the Anchor for some time. You'd think instead of waiting around for them to find him he might have sought them out ASAP before something really bad happened. Or maybe tried harder to stop them from drinking from the well of sorrows? Or given them more insight and a chance to HELP him? If he's recruiting agents why is a romanced inquisitor excluded from being one? I think I'm just tired of doing the writer's job for them and coming up with motivations and reasons for Solas's in game actions if you had a high approval Inquisition run to make sense.
HAHA yeah. it is genuinely one of solas' most unhinged and cruel things to do, i think? bc he really could have just broken into skyhold, yanked it off, and left. and it would've taken about 20 minutes and been quite humane. and that is actually what he owes the inq out of basic decency after... sort of unintentionally ruining their life and health?
it is fascinating that this doesn't usually come up in fics, bc that's extremely cruel and i feel like most inqs should have pretty strong feelings about it... luring someone who thinks they're terminally ill through this 12 stage mirror dungeon, and only THEN going "ah now i will save your life 🥚👍" and then leaving them sitting alone in the dirt with their arm dissolved, is SO unnecessarily hurtful haha. makes sense on a low approval state i think! but it is a notably odd decision on high approval or romance.
i kind of like it personally bc it does fit solas' horrible unhinged personal life decisions up to that point? it's neat that he's generally quite scrupulous with his morals, and tries to avoid needless suffering, and doesn't kill people when given the opportunity? but... everyone he actually cares about gets the brunt of his insane decisions, bc if he gets emotionally compromised at all, he loses all braincells and critical thinking ability :')
given how trainwreck his decisions are in inquisition (nearly crashing out and dooming the whole world and letting corypheus keep the orb just bc the wisdom spirit died, getting into a romance at all, the Entire crestwood thing), i think his thought process on high approval might have been a cringe fail sequence like:
