Idk how to make people understand that I didn't much care about Sorcery of Thorns while also making it clear that I loved the vibes, the characters, and the way their stories went. I loved it so much (but not the book) that I ordered the novella, Mysteries of Thorn Manor (loved it btw) and still don't own SoT (for now, nor want to yet) because... I guess I just want to say the writing wasn't quite it for me, and the execution of the plot was okay-ish

I don’t... get how we ended up here, quite. I guess just in terms of how many people had to be so... unthinking? Some of it is ignorance, and some of that is deliberate and some of it is due to a lack of accessible information or the deliberate manipulation of information, I think. A lot of it is just plain cruelty. Not to mention other forms of gatekeeping to keep certain kinds of people away from the power they need and deserve. But still.

I mean, I also do get it. And... a lot of us were too young to vote on anything, in any country, when the most immediate of these problems were settling in. A lot of us weren’t even born to experience the historical background. 

It’s been said, it’s cliche, even, that the systems we rely on are so thoroughly broken. But it’s true. It’s enraging and I want to do more about it, but so often it feels like... what can we do? Because of those systems, because working within them is so difficulty. We need something new, and where do we even start, practically?

Maybe it’s time to start writing letters.

i'm not sure how i feel re: the miss saigon revival.

on one hand, it's a big break for the people who got cast (esp. to fellow pinoys jon jon briones, who plays the engineer, and eva noblezada, who plays kim). on the other hand, people do have valid points about miss saigon being racist and sexist, among other things.

So as much as people shouldn't forget about Sir Ystin as another trans* character in the DCnU, everyone should also remember that the inclusion of a trans*dude and the inclusion of a trans*lady are two really different things?
