My favorite part of about Winter saving Marrow’s life is there was ZERO hesitation. Winter’s been second-guessing herself since Volume 7, and her unshakeable confidence in Ironwood’s taken a huge toll since V7 finale and all of V8. She doesn’t want to be there, but she doesn’t know where else to go nor what plan will save them. She’s so lost she feels stuck in her old position, waiting for the path to open up.
Then Marrow breaks.
Winter watches him reach his total breaking point and leave, then watches her boss raise his gun.
All of that happened in less than a minute. I’d even say it took less than 30 seconds.
And Winter, the girl who’s been hesitating for two whole volumes, the one that’s been waiting and waiting and waiting for things to make sense again, jumped forward without a second thought to save Marrow’s life.
