Genuinely, one of the measures that's stopped book banning the most when districts implement it, is having the would-be banners fill out a form that demonstrates if they've read the book or not. Like where they have the summarize the plot and characters and do a mini book report and give a review. It stops them in their tracks. This is why in my high school, every time someone wanted to ban a book it ended up going nowhere. There was one where a conservative student wanted to ban the manga "Legal Drug" for having a marijuana leaf on the cover, then got the form that required them to actually read and either balked, or read it and realized it was not pro-drug at all. (The other one that reduces book bans even further is "requiring the would-be banner to be affiliated with this actual school in some way, either by being a student, faculty/staff or a parent of a child at the school" because the vast majority of bans are "activists" with no affiliation with the school who just travel around trying to do this in districts all over the U.S. IIRC a few years ago someone crunched the numbers and just 51 parents were responsible for all the book bans that year nationally. 51! In a country with 50 states, with over 300 million people total!)

The reason why so many of y'all's feminism sucks is because you still believe deep down in your hearts that there are only two kinds of people in the world: precious, ethereal, fragile dollthings called "women", and violent, lustful, rage-fueled apes called "men". Until you throw that idea away, 3rd-grade-tier "girls rule boys drool, girls are princesses and boys are stinky :(" is as feminist as we'll ever get-- and I hope it's obvious that that's lightyears away from the bare minimum of where we need to be.
I don't know how I'm supposed to explain to ostensibly trans-friendly feminists that "women are beautiful soft things made of glass, men are obsessed with violence and sex" is exactly what the patriarchy wants you to believe. Patriarchy wants you to believe that being a woman and/or having a vagina (patriarchy generally believes those two things are synonymous) makes one shatter on impact with reality. It makes you easier to control if you are scared shitless of the other half of the population, and it makes you more compliant with your lot in life if you believe it is in the nature of the other half of the population to rape and kill rather than realise those were choices those individual rapists and murderers made. There is no way to make gender essentialism progressive and feminist, because it is one of patriarchy's tools of subjugation. Stop trying to make it progressive.
And I can scream all of that from the rooftops over and over again, and what I hear in reply is "Trans men really are men because no woman would ever decide to become an inherently evil repugnant rapist ape", and "You're so right. Trans women are women because they too are pretty delicate little objects I can fuck", and "You're non-binary? So are you fucktoy non-binary or sexpest non-binary?", and my patience runs ever thinner.

Sacrifice for human kind
Iâm used to media where when a betrayal happens it casts every previous friendly moment in the shadow of that future betrayal, every close conversation and word of encouragement becomes tinged with the fact they were keeping secrets, this was the plan from the start, you can see in their eyes now, but with Eva Stratt itâs different.
Somehow, her betrayal doesnât erase the friendship they had. It doesnât make the relationship any less real or tangible, it doesnât even really end it, or twist it into something else in hindsight. What makes Stratt still feel like Graceâs friend at the end of the movie despite the betrayal is her honesty. Eva Stratt never pretended to be anything else than what she was, she never hid her methods or what she was willing to do or what she was willing to sacrificeâ anything, anyone, for billions, for the worldâand Grace knew this about her. This betrayal wasnât the plan from the beginning, she had her plan and her scientists. And the moment theyâre gone she sits Grace down and she tells him.
She explains it, she gives him as much information about the reasoning as she can. She sends him to save the world and then die, and she doesnât lie to him about it to make it easier for herself or for him or for anyone, and lying definitely would have made it easier. She betrays him and it doesnât change the fact that they were friends, it doesnât warp the softer scenes beforehand, itâs a long-shot to save the world, the lives of billions weighed against the life of one friend, Ryland Grace knew who she was. Eva Stratt was always going to pick the world over anyone, including herself.
And, because of who she is, the moment where she made him think he had a choice doesnât feel like cruelty, it feels like the proof they really were friends. Up to this point everything she's done has been for the world, but this⌠this was Eva Strattâs only allowed bit of selfishness, giving her friend three hours to choose to go so she wouldnât have to choose for him. Iâm fine about Eva Stratt I swearâ
Once we're done...I'm gonna die.
