Chris still wore all his layers inside, there was no exception. Any indication of being cold needed to be covered up - because it was getting more and more frigid outside. He knew that his friends were always going to give him beef about it, too, but it didn’t bother him.
He stood there, against the wall, hands in his pockets, as he was a little disgruntled about not being able to charge his phone while he was there, waiting on Sam. It was not often that the two went anywhere together, but all in all, Chris thought Sam was pretty chill. He only acted differently when they were around Josh. It was clear to him how much of a dick he could be at times, but he promised that Sam wouldn’t have to go alone during her Christmas shopping.
Maybe he would find some presents to buy of his own, but definitely nothing at this H & M store. It was too modernized and weird for his taste, and they were playing really mellow indie band music through their speakers. One of the girls working there had asked him if he needed suggestions on what outfits to purchase to make him feel like a “new man”, and that somewhat threw Chris off. About fifteen minutes into waiting on Sam to wrap things up, Chris went on a hunt for her, seeing as how he might have accidentally lost track of where she was inside. He felt kind of guilty, after all, for not actually staying by her side while she shopped there - kind of damaging his being there so she wouldn’t be alone by him standing somewhere separate from her.
“Hey, Sam?” Chris called out when he saw her, picking up the pace to meet her on the other side of a rack full of clearance clothes. He was about to say something else when the crown of his head hit something that tickled him slightly. “What the...”
Chris stared blankly at the hanging piece of mistletoe above him, and stepped back from it - Sam looking up as well. No one was looking, and it wasn’t like there was some law breaking penalty for not participating in this... you gotta kiss them under the mistletoe crap. Chris, however, noticed that a couple people were watching, and before Sam was able to make any comments, he decided to take the plunge.
He grabbed her by the face and pulled her into a gentle, though relatively soft and quick kiss. He cleared his throat, “I...”
