FACE OFF IN A GOTHAM CITY JUNKYARD -- THERE WILL BE BLOOD.
PIC(S) INFO: Spotlight on Batman confronting the Gotham City hunter-yautja in a salvage yard, but only one will emerge victorious, from the pages of "Batman versus Predator" Vol. 1 #1. January, 1992. DC/Dark Horse Comics.
"Yes, sir -- Pickett's Salvage...unlike the other two yards, it was locked and quite deserted. However, strangest of all, in my experience of such establishments -- there wasnt even a dog barking."
-- ALFRED PENNYWORTH to Batman (story/script by Dave Gibbons)

Not a vore thing. Don't make it weird.
I will feed myself to you
because it is all I know how to provide
and I must keep you alive
even when you don't need me to
especially then
When there is nothing left of me
I will languish over starfish privilege
begging you not to leave
the nothing I have left of myself
Ang hirap gumawa ng decision sa gitna ng pandemya 'no? Halos hindi ako makapagplano o magawa yung mga plans ko sa life ko because sobrang limitado ng mga pwedeng gawin.
Tanginang covid 'to.

I'm on call with my mom rn
Were watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer and were discussing what happened after the show like
How are the characters dealing with the new situation?
Do they still live on that bus?
Where did they go after Sunnydale got destroyed?!?
How is my witchy daughter Willow doing?
Did buffy ever receive help for her mental help?
How is buffy coping with not being the only Slayer?
Xander my boi how are you doing with 1 eye?
In conclusion I have alot of unanswered questions and I need some one to answer them.
The Anti-Portfolio
In the world of venture capital, it is not uncommon to make most of your money off only a small fraction of your investments. Hereās how Fred Wilson describes his firmāsĀ ābatting averageā:
āI've said many times on this blog that our target batting average is "1/3, 1/3, 1/3" which means that we expect to lose our entire investment on 1/3 of our investments, we expect to get our money back (or maybe make a small return) on 1/3 of our investments, and we expect to generate the bulk of our returns on 1/3 of our investments.ā
Iām guessing that this is one of the reasons why mistakes are more readily embraced -- or even celebrated -- in venture capital and in tech. Itās part of the DNA of the industry.
A perfect example of this is something called theĀ Anti-Portfolio. Venture capital firm, Bessemer Venture Partners, has a page up on their website dedicated to āhonoring those we missed.ā It is a list of phenomenally successful companies that for various reasons BVP decided not to invest in. That is, they had the opportunity but they decided to pass.
Hereās a taste (copied verbatim from their site):
[Apple] BVP had the opportunity to invest in pre-IPO secondary stock in Apple at a $60M valuation. BVP's Neill Brownstein called it "outrageously expensive."
[Facebook] Jeremy Levine spent a weekend at a corporate retreat in the summer of 2004 dodging persistent Harvard undergrad Eduardo Saverin's rabid pitch. Finally, cornered in a lunch line, Jeremy delivered some sage advice "Kid, haven't you heard of Friendster? Move on. It's over!"
[Google] Cowanās college friend rented her garage to Sergey and Larry for their first year. In 1999 and 2000 she tried to introduce Cowan to āthese two really smart Stanford students writing a search engineā. Students? A new search engine? In the most important moment ever for Bessemerās anti-portfolio, Cowan asked her, āHow can I get out of this house without going anywhere near your garage?ā
As I was going through BVPās Anti-Portfolio, I immediately thought about how different this sensibility is compared to the real estate industry. I mean, could you imagine a developer celebrating all of the sites she or he passed on and all of the projects that lost or made no money?
One of the reasons you do this is to learn from your mistakes. So perhaps we could all use some sort ofĀ āanti-portfolio.ā
IT'S GONNA BE A BLOODY DAY IN GOTHAM CITY -- BLOOD RED & FLUORESCENT GREEN.
PIC(S) INFO: Resolution at a mega-kiler 3560x3935 & 1255x1920 -- Spotlight on a reimagined color scheme and/or color palette for the John Byrne pin-up of Batman versus Predator (compare & contrast), re-coloring by "xts33" (Deviant art user), uploaded September 2022.
Damn, someone really needs to give this "xts33" person a coloring job with any comic book publishing company because this "remastered" BVP color palette is seriously kicking my ass, and it's so much better than the original. Sorry, John Byrne! OOF! haha!
