Batman V Superman Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition Review

So, while back I wrote a review for Batman V Superman Dawn of Justice and thought it was OK and gave it a 3/5, but when I heard about the ultimate edition I watched it and really enjoyed it more than the theatrical version. So let’s talk about it

One thing the Ultimate Edition does better than the theatrical is shows more Clark Kent. That was a complaint I had with the theatrical version was Henry Cavil, who played Superman/Clark Kent didn’t have many lines, but with this version we see him being a reporter going to Gotham, talking to his mother and we see why he doesn't like Batman. We also see him helping out after Capital explodes and learn why he couldn’t save them.

Another reason why I like the Ultimate edition is it made the film flow better. In the theatrical version many scenes were cut and chopped together, but with this version it flows better and makes the film better. It is 3 hours, but  it makes the film much better. I don’t have a problem with it being that long because most superhero films are two hours long, but with this film it felt it needed to be because it helped understand the story characters and their motivations.

Like I said in my other review, I enjoyed the cast and thought they were great, the action was awesome because for me when I saw Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman together fighting Doomsday, I loved seeing these great characters together on the big screen was just amazing, I also enjoyed seeing them use elements of The Dark Knight Returns and The Death of Superman in the film. The Death of the Wayne's was excellent and It reminded so much of the Dark Knight Returns with the pearls and seeing Bruce in Metropolis was great.

While the film was good, it did have things I didn’t like with Jeese Eisenberg as Lex Luthor. He did show Lex as man who is resourceful, manipulate people do what he wants and is clever, but he acted to wild and crazy for my taste. I also wished there could have been more dialogue in the fight with Batman and Superman. My biggest complaint is they Killed Jimmy Olsen.

Overall, I prefer this version over the theatrical because helped made the story flow better, you get more Clark Kent scenes and you understood why both Superman and Batman don’t like the other. I did enjoy it and my dad, who I watched with said “Why did they cut these scenes” because he enjoyed it just as did. I can’t wait to see Wonder Woman and the Justice League films.

I’m giving this film 8/10 and 4/5 because it was really good and worth checking out.

Just watched bvs again and holy crap that movie is beautiful.

Watched BVS the Unlimited Edition tonight, and I really enjoyed it. I was skeptical about the movie when I watched it in the cinema, but after seeing this a lot has tied together and made more sense, which made the movie a LOT more enjoyable.

Of course there were still some issues; like Lex being an absolutely terrible version of one of my favorite villains, and Doomsday’s origin and appearance. I also still believe Superman and Wonder Woman should have been enough to take on Doomsday without the Kryptonite. (if we pretend to accept the logic of Doomsday being a mixture of Lex and Zod DNA, then the creature is basically just another version of Superboy - aka a weaker version of Superman).

However, all in all I would recommend this for DC fans who needed the movie to be better.
