On June 11, 2023, Ubisoft released the first trailer for Star Wars Outlaws. Outlaws follows smuggler Kay Vess as she navigates the perilous
Davor Mondom's essay here beautifully explains what's so special about our beloved Commando droid and poses some interesting food for thought on droids in general and our perceptions about them. I doubt Star Wars will ever truly address the muddled mess that is droid ethics/personhood, but ND-5 has so far been the best character to explore that topic, and I'll always be grateful to the game's writing team for deciding to feature such a storyline and Lucasfilm's publishing division for asking Mike Chen to expand upon it. Here's hoping we get more of his story (and his pov) in the future!
