You know, one characterisation that really pissed me off (no offence to anyone who does this, but, you know) is when people portray Jin Zixuan as having had a crush on Jiang Yanli. NO HE DID NOT!! That’s precisely the point!! And a big-ass part of his character I think personally!! He wants a love match for himself, right?? ‘Cause both his parents and Jiang Yanli’s parents are in loveless arranged marriages and have a horrible time together. So when he gets told to marry her at a very young age HE DOESN’T WSNT TO!! He does not. Like. Her. Okay?? And then there’s the soup incident, which is also really important, because he realises that 1. He might be wrong about her character and who she is as a person and 2. He made a wrong decision based off of his own biased judgement which he shouldn’t have done. So. Now he’s thinking “okay, I should probably apologise and at the very least get to know her on a minimum basis level” and he does. And badabing-badabum, he realises she’s a kind, amazing person, who he develops a crush on and later falls head over heels in love with her. It’s IMPORTANT to me, that you know that. He’s not gonna immediately flip a switch just ‘cause she smiled at him or acted kind, okay?? He grew up in KOI TOWER YOU GUYS!! KOI. TOWER!! That means he’s used to people being fake nice and shit, right? He thinks she’s acting. And is probably an entitled young mistress or whatever. It’s an important and vital part of his character and relationship with Jiang Yanli that he realises his judgement was wrong AND that she is actually the nice and kind young woman she presents herself as. Otherwise their relationship is probably never gonna go much of anywhere. And thus can happen any number of ways btw, if you’re writing fanfic btw. It’s just important to me that he actually has a moment where he realises he was wrong and is kind of like “wait. Am I the problem??” Because you have to remember the main reason for his not liking Jiang Yanli is the arranged marriage between them. He wants to be in a love match. Anyways, yeah. This is why WWX doing what he does both times her punches JZX and just his overall attitude towards him is such an important thing. Sorry if this was a little rambly and all over the place lol. At least one good thing came out of the podcast, bryceriel is officially DEAD. And after how terribly some of them treated my friend and how terribly some have acted towards gwynriel, I couldn't be happier.
