9th post- Your suggested solutions to the problem
Many women at work go through sexual harassment at work, and many employers don’t know how serious the situation really is. Therefore, one of the solutions that I believe could stop women facing sexual harassment at work would be to have employers and their employers should be forced to attend seminars on sexual harassment. In these seminars everyone would be informed of what sexual harassment is, and how it looks like in the workplace. Several videos would be played showing the different types of sexual harassment such as: rape, violence, discrimination, harassment etc. Furthermore, everyone would also be informed of laws that prohibit sexual harassment, and the rules that should be implied in workplaces in order to create a safe and happy workplace for everyone. If this were to be done, many people will realize how bad harassing a woman is, and in how much they are putting their job and themselves in jeopardy for doing something illegal.
Another solution that I would find helpful would be having employers offer a safe office facility where their employee feels safe about talking about any problem they’ve encountered at work without being ignored. If many workers are too shy, scared or embarrassed of speaking up, there could be away in which they’ll be able to make a complaint and leave it in one of the human resources mailbox. After somebody in the office has read the complaint, they should be called in to the office for questioning for both the one who did the harassment, and the person that was harassed. After doing so, both of them can be send to court to settle the problem. Then I believe it would be best for the employer to fire the person who did harassment because if he did it once, he could do it again and many other women at work wont feel safe working around him.
One last solutions would be to have employers offer anti-harassment training. If a woman is being harassed at work, and no one is around to help save her than she can just protect herself. Doing so, will stop sexual harassment at work because women wouldn’t see as vulnerable and fragile as many men see them to be. Before anyone gets hired in the work field it should be a requirement that those classes should be taken with a signature of the supervisor or the instructor. After doing so, that signed documentation should be kept in order to show their commitment of working in a harassment workplace.
