I dont know what this phenomenon is called in linguistics but if you have your own examples please add them

I speak like 5 languages. In 3 of them separately, the word for stone, sit down, and floor/ground is the same. So I just told my friend to "pass me the floor" instead of "pass me the stone". Also, i sometimes also do a mixed direct translation of sentences (because english is my 4th language), such as "give me the door" (shut the door for me) or "can I borrow your lead-stick?" (Can I borrow your pencil)

indonesian is such a poetic language like i dont think an english translation could ever encapsulate how pretty and flowery the language really is :((

what do you hate the most as a multilingual?

I'll go first:

THIS QUESTION:

"oh, you speak [insert foreign language here]? Say something in it."

like, please, don't. I'd gladly tell you anything in that language, but have a sentance or whatever you want to here at ready. Because I feel so anxios. If I say something I want, you won't understand it and I'd feel bad afterwards. Especially since I'm thinking in the language I chose to speak at the time, so translating is hard for me.

anyway, add something, learning is filled with struggles and awkward times and sharing might brighten it a bit :)
