time for another round of “oc ask meme using a random name picker,” this time featuring the clone ocs bc i’m still obsessed with them! our players today are Alpha, Beta, Rush, Sunshine, Griffin, Mel, and Checkmate.
1. What position does your character sleep in? ( i.e; stomach, side, back, etc. ) Describe why they do this — optional.
Rush sleeps on his back in a very narrow, straight line, usually with his arms crossed on his chest–his squadmates have often described him as looking as if he’s sleeping in a coffin, which isn’t helped by the fact that he stays completely still the whole time. He keeps both of his pistols by his side. Rush is very fear-driven and feels safest on his back since that way, no one can sneak up on him from behind and he feels able to jump into action at short notice.
2. Does your character have any noteworthy features? Freckles? Dimples? A scar somewhere unusual? etc.
Mel has a lip piercing in the form of a small silver ring on the left side of her mouth and a small scar on her chin from a forgettable mission long past. Her most noteworthy feature, though, is probably her long hair. She usually has to keep it tied back in a ponytail or braid, but it’s about shoulder-length.
3. Does your character have an accent? What does it sound like?
I mean…Sunshine has the same accent as the rest of the clones, meaning he sounds like a New Zealander but from space? In terms of his personal speech quirks, he tends to talk quickly and insert a lot of hyperbole in the form of things like “literally” or describe events in terms of “and then he was like, and then she was like…”
4. Do they have any verbal tics? Do they have trouble pronouncing certain words or getting their thoughts across clearly?
Checkmate speaks in a very precise, measured fashion, so they don’t have any sort of tics or difficulties with speech. They like to plan their words carefully before they begin to talk.
5. What are their chief tension areas?
Alpha is pretty much one big vibrating ball of energy and tension. He’s specifically tense in his shoulders and back because he slouches a lot and generally has terrible posture.
6. If you were to pick one song — and only one song — to describe your character, what would it be and why?
Griffin’s song would be “All Will Be Well” by the Gabe Dixon Band. He has a sort of quiet, enduring optimism that survives everything he and the rest go through. He thinks a lot about life beyond the war even though his ideas of what could possibly happen to him and his brothers are hazy and best.
7. How does your character perceive themselves? Positive? Negative? Neutral?
Sunshine thinks he’s pretty great. In the grand scheme of narcissistic members of Breeze Squad, he falls right behind Alpha simply because no one could possible hope to surpass Alpha’s obsession with himself.
8. Are they a quick thinker or do they need time to sort through their thoughts?
Alpha tends to make snap decisions, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s good at making them. He likes to act on instinct and make things up on the fly, but one of the positive ways that Beta balances him is by trying to get him to sit down and think carefully about things occasionally.
9. Does your character dream or are their nights filled with an empty blackness? Describe a dream they’ve had or a night they couldn’t sleep and what they did to preoccupy their time.
Beta sleeps deeply and doesn’t remember his dreams. When he can’t sleep, he likes to go for walks, although that isn’t always possible when they’re on missions. He also likes to come up with stories in his head or tell a few of the tales he has stored up to an audience if anyone else is awake.
10. If they had a choice, would they prefer a subway or a bus for public transportation?
Griffin would prefer a bus. Subway travel is a bit too frantic and rushed–Griffin likes to take things slow and see the sights on his way.
11. Describe 5 unusual characteristics your muse has.
He’s not particularly interested in differentiating himself from the other clones, hence his regulation haircut and lack of visible tattoos. For him, his personal identity is something that he prefers to pick and choose to share with those he trusts. Around everyone else, he’d rather just be another faceless clone.
However, he does have tattoo sleeves on both forearms–that way, he can admire and enjoy them but keeps them hidden from most outsiders. The tattoos are geometric designs with similarly geometric plants and flowers, and they don’t really have any meaning beyond being something pretty that makes Beta happy.
Beta didn’t choose his name and never has actually expressed any sort of preference for it. He was nicknamed “Beta” when he was still back on Kamino because he always seemed to be following Alpha around, and the name has continued to stick through the influence of those who knew him back then.
Beta’s very picky about food. As a soldier, he does have to basically eat whatever he can get, but given the choice, he gravitates to a few specific foods and is mildly disgusted by the rest.
He’s one of the quieter men in Breeze Squad, but he has a proclivity for talking to himself that extends to talking to machinery, weaponry, and animals.
12. Have they ever been so overwhelmed they had to stop and take a break from something?
As a general rule, Rush doesn’t allow himself to show weakness like this. At one point, he has shut down and basically just… stopped when faced with a situation extremely similar to the one that lead to his injuries and capture. Sunshine had to drag him along until he became functional again.
13. Are they a team player or do they prefer to be solo?
Mel likes to go solo, although she has to override this particular tendency in order to work as an effective team member. She’s the type to rush in, guns blazing, before everyone else can catch up, although becoming a captain has forced her to change her ways a bit.
14. Can they multi-task or must they focus on one subject at a time?
Griffin likes to tackle tasks one subject at a time. However, as the leader, he has the luxury of being able to delegate responsibility and have everyone else get everything done at once, an option that he’s extremely fond of.
15. What are their best school subjects? What are their worst?
Assuming Alpha somehow went to regular old 21st century Earth school, he’d totally be that jock who goes way too hard in P.E. but gets great scores on fitness tests. He’d be good at math and science type courses and hate English and history. He’d also be secretly good at art but wouldn’t try in class because it would ruin his manly jock bro appearance.
16. Is your character an introvert or an extrovert? How do they handle big crowds of people?
Checkmate is an introvert who acts pretty gregarious in social settings but requires a lot of alone time to recharge. In big crowds of people, they keep to themself and stick by one or two close friends the whole time rather than attempting to mingle.
17. Are they a leader, do they prefer to follow, or would they rather just stay on the sidelines altogether?
Sunshine has trouble with following but isn’t particularly interested in leading, either. He’s casually disobedient of authority, smiling and throwing out “yes, sir”’s and “no, sir”’s like the model soldier, but he does basically whatever the hell he wants. Luckily, this is never malicious–Sunshine just wants to collect trinkets from the worlds that they visit, make some inadvisable friendships, and take scenic detours. His infuriating behavior was what got him landed with Breeze Squad in the first place, and Griffin is in a constant process of trying to get him under control.
18. If your character was suddenly challenged, would they rather run away or stay and fight?
If Beta was suddenly challenged, he’d stoically ignore the challenger until they got bored and went away. If this didn’t happen, he’d eventually get aggravated enough to throw a punch or two, but he’s very slow to anger.
19. If your character was allowed to murder one person without any consequences, who would that person be and why?
I genuinely have no idea who Checkmate would murder. They do make enemies through their gambling and competitiveness, but not anything serious enough that they would turn to killing.
20. Your character has been granted 3 wishes; what would they wish for and why?
Griffin would wish for his men to be stable and happy, Checkmate and Mel to stay safe, and… maybe an enormous cache of various delicious foods that he could miraculously carry around on their missions? He’s a pretty simple dude.
21. Does your character trust people right off the bat or does it take them some time to warm up to someone?
Sunshine trusts people right away. That doesn’t mean he completely lets all of his defenses disappear, but he’s always happy to start talking to random strangers like they’ve been friends for years. He’s an open book, really.
22. Do they prefer romance or affection? What is the quickest way to your character’s heart?
Mel prefers affection simply because romance seems like such an unattainable thing to her at this point, but affection from her friends is never in short supply. Despite how independent she is, she’s easily ensnared by a lot of attention–if you make a point of talking to her rather than anyone else and always ending up by her side, she’ll fall for you a little bit.
23. Do they have any weird bedroom habits? Any unusual kinks?
Alpha is a virgin despite his occasional lavish tales of completely made up sexual conquest, so he hasn’t really explored this area much. Also, I honestly don’t care about coming up with headcanons for this type of stuff, so…
24. How does your character prepare for bed? Do they sleep at all or can they stay awake for days on end without trouble?
Griffin sleeps anywhere, any time, so he doesn’t so much prepare for bed as close his eyes and immediately drop into slumber. At night, he checks all of his gear and supplies, makes sure he can visually account for the rest of the squad, then falls asleep.
25. Are they afraid of death? Do they have any regrets?
Beta doesn’t fear death–as far as he can tell, his current life has basically no purpose, so he doesn’t exactly have much to lose. If he were faced with a near-death situation, though, he’d still definitely retain his survival instinct. He’d regret not getting to collect more stories and songs and not opening up more and getting closer to others/showing his few friends that he appreciates them.
26. Does your character get restless when things are too quiet or do they favour solitude and silence? Why?
Rush prefers solitude and silence as long as there are other people around him–otherwise, the quiet makes him feel anticipatory, as if something terrible could happen at any moment. His experiences with nearly getting blown up before getting subjected to torture for a month or so has left him with permanently frayed nerves, to say the least, so loud noises make very antsy.
27. Finally; if your character was forced to eat one thing for the rest of their life, what would they choose and why?
Griffin loves anything sweet, so he’d go with candy (that I’m too lazy to decide the exact type of because I don’t feel like doing SW worldbuilding at this exact moment.)
