It was with the intricate sound of silverware being jostled that indicated the approach of the little girl. Her hair was held back by little star clips and she was bouncing excitedly thus the dancing of the silverware over the tray. He small face scrunched up in concentration. She had juice, coffee, scrambled eggs, toast, lemon butter, pancakes and two slices of bacon on the tray. Which she was balancing with a card that had Felix the Cat on it. "HAPPY FATHER'S DAY, DADDY." she exclaimed.
He was at his desk going over something in the large book open before him. His ears never failed him where sound was concerned and certainly food was a draw to the entity, so to smell the cooking food had been a test of patience to not appear in the kitchen and steal what he wanted from the stove. He doubted either Anu or Athy would appreciate such a blatant theft.
He turned in his seat and pulled the book away to make space for the child to sit the food down. She had done well, she had grace. He glanced down at her and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. “Thank you.” he said warmly. Reaching for a piece of toast to take a bite out of it. “You did this by yourself ?” he asked though of course he knew the answer to that. Still, he was delighted to have been brought this. He scooped the small girl up and opened the card to read it. “Again, Thank you.” he murmured kissing the top of her head fatherly. “Do we have plans today--shall I clear my schedule ?”
