On the Sunday before Temperance's birthday, Penelope had packed the two of them a nice lunch. It was never as good as Temperance's cooking, but small sandwiches on a blanket were charming. What to do for her wife's birthday had been quite easy since Pinehaven started having Shakespeare in the park during June. The biggest joy, of course, for Penelope was not to see the play, but the small utterances of her wife reciting the lines from the play as the actors performed.

"I hope you are okay with just little sandwiches, today, love," Penelope noted as unloaded the bag onto the picnic blanket, and set aside a small wrapped box. "I figures drinking wine in the day was a little tacky and just brought water as well."

It’s not the music, laughter or slamming door that’s he’s mad about. No, those were expected when living in what could only be described as a shoebox in the sky. It’s the constant mumbling and muttering about things that he isn’t even sure he’s hearing right that sent Dominic stomping down the hall and knocking in his new neighbours door.

“Hey it’s 403!” He calls out after a few heavy knocks at the door. “C’mon, I know you’re home. You haven’t shut up for two hours. Either keep it down or at least buy me a 6-pack ‘cause this is getting painful.”

It was almost dinner time when Harper finally fell through the door, bidding her father hello before face planting on the couch with a groan. “I’m too tired for this,” she murmured, what though exactly? Even she wasn’t sure at this point, but given that it was her first real job in a long time, let alone something full time she was exhausted. Turning her head to the side she locked eyes with her younger sister, “Wanna order pizza and binge watch trashy TV? I wanna get wine drunk.”

“I’m so glad that it’s break,” Bex said. “I actually get to spend time with you and Graham. We should get hot chocolate, right? I’ve missed the Hideaway Cafe’s hot chocolate.”
