‘ ¿se divierten haciendo hacienda planes para la graduación? ’  tono que destila ironía, posando la mirada en cada uno de ellos, luego, echándose un paso para atrás, admirándolos como grupo. se pregunta si el resto de su vida se sentirá así, como si les debiera algo, como si ellos le debieran algo a ella, ¿y por qué los extraña tanto si son las personas que menos desea ver?. aun si ella ha sido quien los cito ahí, se pregunta si no será mejor simplemente retirarse, sin embargo, se mantiene inerte en su lugar, el orgullo siempre ha podido más. ‘ juro que si no dicen la verdad los delatare, a todos ’  la medidas desesperadas de tiempos desesperados  ‘ ¿le han dicho algo a alguien acerca del- incidente? ’  ¿o cómo explican todo lo que está sucediendo ahora?, pero es pregunta no se pronuncia y en su lugar, drew resopla, la boca le sabe amarga. ‘ si no resolvemos esto ahora dudo que haya graduación para nosotros ’ .

I am reading a journal article by Colin Cameron called Whose problem? Disability narratives and available identities. 2007

It is talking about how our perception of certain individuals throughout history has not changed. In famous literature, media, and text etc, there is little to no resources to contradict the negative images presented to us about people impairments and disabilities. These people have no basis in society to show them that that they are worthy, which makes me sad because I have never thought about this issue. 

Then I am thinking, anyone, who is not considered the majority, but the 'other' is disabled in the fact that they are unable to connect to their social surroundings. 'Others" are stigmatised in societies where they do not fit into the preferred mould.

I had a quite moment where I had to process that disturbing realisation. It is a concept that I now know has sat quietly in the back of my mind, since I realised I could 'differentiate' people, and after experiencing being in social situations where I couldn't communicate my need for verbal expression. But right now it has just kind of hit me that, everywhere, certain people are feeling alienated and repressed because they are classified as the 'other' in a situation where, should the cards be reversed, they could be the majority and posses (as a community) the same ability to affect others lives in repressive ways.
