Shoot HD take Ronin, c300's, F5 & Canon 17-120mm to Althorp

Glasgow based Finestripe Productions whose film The Day Kennedy Died was nominated for a 2014 BAFTA, came to ShootHD for kit and crew to film at Althorp House for their Million Dollar Princesses production.

Executive Produced by Sue Summers and presented by Downton Abbey star Elizabeth McGovern, Producer/Director Michael Burke dedicated three cameras to the shoot in order to minimise re-set time and maximise the shooting day.

A Plant Room Sony F5 camera with a Canon 17-120mm was supplemented with a Ronin mounted Canon c300 with 35mm EF prime and an additional Canon c300 dedicated to a Jimmy Jib with 16-35mm lens.

“Shoot HD's Ronin proved the perfect solution to working within the confines of a stately home where laying track was an issue” said DOP Ben Hodgson “plus the set up time was minimal for the Ronin which I left permanently rigged for the day.” The three part series charts the history of the Million Dollar American heiresses who married British aristocrats - the real story of Downton Abbey.

Canon 15.5-47mm & 30-105mm Cinema lenses visit Shoot HD

Canon Cinema Lenses

#ShootHD brings in Canon’s Cinema #CN-E15.5-47mm & 30-105mm lenses for a quick look-see and even though we were in the middle of re-designing our office & kit room so we can move our kit in and out even quicker, we managed to find a moment to mount both a PL & EF Cinema lens to a Shoot HD #Amira and #c300 cameras.

With the area immediately outside our workshop door at Pinewood Studios being patrolled by plain-clothed Star Wars Stormtroopers - we couldn't point the lenses at much more than the side of our van, a registration chart or pile of washing up - so we chose our trusty van.

These lenses are light, crisp (4k res) and available with PL or EF mount. First up was the CN-E 15.5-47mm T2.8L S on a c300 which would be a sweet solution if you were in handheld mode - although a better idea might be to stick the camera back in the truck and pull out an Arri Amira which would have the obvious added ergonomic advantages.

The #CN-E30-105mm T2.8L S/L mounted on a Shoot HD Amira looked a real treat through a decent 17" monitor and we ended up commenting on how gorgeous the Amira is against the c300.

Here's an exciting shot of the back of the Shoot HD van - framed to exclude any Star Wars references whatsoever on the long end of the Canon CN-30-105mm, shot on one of the Shoot HD #Amirahire cameras.
