i don’t think fatws grasped that a necessary facet of writing a character that feels like they need to maintain constant composure and never be the one in distress (sam) should PROBABLY come with one if not multiple scenes of that character breaking down and working through those feelings. scenes where he lectures a politician or looks at bucky in a frustrated way are NOT suitable stand-ins for scenes of sam allowing himself to feel genuine, intense emotion, or scenes where he gets to hear that he isn’t letting anybody down by doing so
