So when New Amsterdam first started I shipped Casey and Bloom. I loved that their ship name could be Cabloom (like ka-boom). But then Leyla came and her and Bloom’s relationship was super cute, so I realized that Casey and Bloom were great just as best friends.

While watching season 5 I feel like I could totally see Bloom’s sister Vanessa and Casey hitting it off. And their ship name could still be Cabloom! He had great scenes with Jeanie, so I could see him getting along with all the Bloom women.

The scene when Lauren wakes up and hugs Casey and that poor man just looks shocked as hell. Because he doesn't really do the feels things but it's Lauren and they're besties, so he does the feels. And they're just the sweetest. I love their friendship. Please, please, please for my sanity, more scenes with them.

I would love to hear your parallels between Casey/Lauren and Helen/Max whenever you’re not tired!

okay so this is a rambling mess because i am still tired lol but i’m just copying and pasting what i wrote in my notes document when this was sent in (3/15) and also what i added tonight let’s go

okay so it’s important to preface this with that my comparisons are mainly being made in terms of structure/storytelling but what I’m talking about with lauren and casey is on a much smaller scale, obviously, than anything with helen and max because of the nature of how the show is structured etc (like, lauren is ofc a main character but her relationships are not as prominent as what is arguably the main emotional relationship of the show outside of max and the hospital and maybe max and helen and max and new amsterdam are one and the same who can say really)

but the structure is very similar even if it is a lot quieter

anyway so casey notices things about lauren (important things, and he’s often though not always the first to do so) and he listens to her and across the first two seasons he’s there to lend her strength in a lot of small ways even when she doesn’t necessarily want him to, and she clearly trusts him without any hesitation which let’s be real for lauren is kind of a big deal

and it was really nice to see her return the favor in the s3 premiere and I have no idea where they’re planning to take these two but what’s there already really feels intentional

ETA: wrote all that after the ask was sent in but waited to post because I wanted to see how it went, and then I forgot, and now I’m glad I waited because ep 4 is giving me a lot to work with halfway through

the thing is the casey is her touchstone and her voice of reason in so many small and important ways — if something is wrong he’s often the one to point it out to her and it’s because he cares and knows who she is and what she’s capable of (or like tonight that she’s capable of doing better than she’s doing) and more importantly she listens to him even when she doesn’t want to, because she knows that he knows her and that he wouldn’t be saying any of it if he didn’t think she needed to hear it or he wasn’t confident that she WOULD hear it coming from him (and the fact that he DOES know she’ll listen to him is, again, a big deal given lauren and all her fun trust issues)

anyway that’s not really super in depth and maybe i will have more well thought out ways to say it eventually, for now have fun with this and with the chaotic line breaks tumblr won’t let me change
