Steam Powered
In the heart of life, a proud flame burns bright The warmth of joy, the heat of fury And the many other reasons we are given to fight
In the depths of soul, rain turns the world blurry A sometimes gentle shower turns to a torrent Bursting forth from the dams like a student's query
Upon the veins set ablaze do the waters pour down Consuming the ardor, replacing it with grief Till the clouds part, leaving only ruins left around
Under the wreckage lies embers, hidden like a thief Not allowing the damp to find purchase and rot Patiently waiting for the arrival of a new leaf
I function amidst the rising steam, as I have been taught Though the next fire is weaker and kept lit by friends I will struggle forwards, not letting all be for naught
For as long as I can or until the world finally makes amends.
