"Warmaster Cadyrhem?""Mhmm..?" Rhemy reluctantly lifted his eyes from the document he was working on, peeking over the top of his glasses to look at whoever had interrupted him. The Vigil initiate looked pale and schocked, almost shaking where he stood. "Is something the matter, initiate?" He asked, concerned.
"No Warmaster, I-i just… Well it’s j-just that.." The poor human stammered. Cadyrhem’s brow furrowed, something seemed wrong.
"Rhemy!!" A high pitched voice cut through the silence as a short and portly sylvari burst through the door. Following her was a posse of grossly mangled masses of viscera and bones, shaped into minions by her magic. Cadyrhem smiled.
"Hello Wyfyn." He greeted her as she skipped up to his desk, grinning up to her ears. She clutched a squirming minion in her arms like one would a teddybear. "And hello Artery too." Rhemy let out a chuckle.
"Warmaster may I l-leave..?" A whisper came from the initiate, pressed against the opposite wall in fear of the necrotic creatures.
Rhemy nodded. “Dismissed. Take the rest of the day off, you look like you need it.” The frightened initiate hastily escaped the room, stumbling over his own feet on the way out.
Wyfynn stuck out her lip in a pout and sighed. “They aren’t mean, they just look like it..” She scratched Artery just underneath his jawbone, getting delighted chittering and hissing in response.
"I know dearheart. But humans are very sensitive, they dont very much like seeing what is on their insides. Much less so when it’s moving around." He gathered the papers on his desk into a bunch and put them aside.
"They are so strange… humans I mean.." Wyfyn pondered."Suddenly the room dissapeared as hands were placed over her eyes. She gave a soft gasp in surpise and giggled. "Stop it Rhemy!" She laughed and turned around to face him. Wyfyn let Artery slip out of her arms and onto the floor where he went off to the other minions. "I missed you.." Wyfyn smiled up at Rhemy, big chestnut eyes almost watering over. "I know, maple muffin." Wyfyn gave a giggle at the nickname. "I missed you too. I’m sorry I’ve been so busy lately, I’ll make it up to you, okay?" Rhemy cupped Wy’s cheek with his hand and brushed her leaves away from her face. "Promise." He reassured. Wyfyn nodded slowly. “Okay.” She smiled, hugging Rhemy tightly and snuggling against his chest. Rhemy hugged back and brushed over Wyfyn’s leaves, kissing the crown of her head. Wy let out a happy little sigh and nuzzled the soft fabric of Rhemy’s shirt one more time before turning her head up to meet his eyes again. Rhemy bent down a bit to lessen their height difference, pressing his forehead against hers.
"I love you, heartvalve." He spoke softly. Wyfyn was always fond of nicknames like those. Rhemy closed his eyes and kissed his love, who kissed back with a smile. They kissed again, slowly and tenderly, both having missed the other for quite a while. They broke away from eachothers lips and embraced again.
"I love you too.." Wyfyn sighed."Uh.. deadheart?" She mumbled a little in annoyance, cursing her poor language skills. Rhemy laughed though, he knew Wy tried her best, and he thought it was adorable.
"Come on, lets get a bit to eat while the halls are still empty. Then I have to get back to work." Rhemy took hold of Wy’s hand. She nodded in agreement and they made their way out of the room.
"Next time though, tell me before you visit so you don’t scare some poor youngster half to death." They both laughed.
3. One strange thing/quirk/defining characteristic of their body or physical appearance.
His bright pink leaf-hawk. He's very proud of it, he takes a half hour every morning to make sure it looks good.
4. One strange thing/quirk/defining characteristic of their personality
Cadyrhem sees himself as a stalwart shining knight always ready to help others. While this is true, his scholarly build often makes him too squishy and his choices bite him in the butt. He perseveres, however, feeling that he'd rather be bruised and sore than leave someone without help.
5. How their parents met.
6. Who their first love was, and why they loved them
Taerryn, bright sweet summer child that saved him from being eaten by a wurm.
7. How/why I came up with the concept for them
I randomly decided that since I had Grimmia and Tae who were fall and summer colored I needed a spring themed salad. Rhemy went through a few remakes before I was happy with him.
Cadyrhem set his staff against the table and picked out a first aid kit. A little ways away from the tent his queen sat on a stone, pressing a cloth between her hands. He took off his gauntlets and laid them on the table before walking to her side and kneeling before her. "May I?"
Lilescha blinked, then laid her hand in his. He tugged the stopper off of his water skein and set to gently wiping the gold stains from her pale bark, palms scarred from past battles already.
Blood magic, he'd heard the other casters call it. A bit of a misnomer for the golden sap sylvari had, but still accurate. Some of them found it unnerving, others used it themselves; life force gave spells a surge of power and in a fight the smallest things could tip the scales.
When sap stopped weeping from her wounds he wrapped her hand carefully, then took the sticky cloth from her other hand and cleaned it as well. Lilescha tilted her head as she watched him. "Not very lovely, are they?"
"Everything about you is lovely," Cadyrhem corrected with a smile. "While it pains me to see you wounded, your scars do not detract from you."
She raised a brow. "Truly?"
"Of course. My mentor once said that scars are simply tattoos with better stories."
"Your mentor must have been as silly as you," Lilescha remarked with a smirk.
"Perhaps." Finished with the bandages, he took both her hands in his and pressed a kiss to her knuckles. "There you are, my queen."
She shook her head at the moniker, as she always did, a smile on her face. "What am I to do with you, Rhemy?"
"That I am able to serve is enough for me." Standing, Cadyrhem gave her a deep bow, smiling when she shook her head again. Her smile meant so much to him, and that he could give her reason to filled him with joy.
☢ The dust is settling across the battlefield and your character finally opens their eyes. What’s the first thing they check on?
Cadyrhem would absolutely ignore whatever injuries he may have and go look for his comrades or report to the nearest outpost. If he needed help he'd summon his flesh golem.
Sive would check herself for injuries, then look around for her weapons and any enemies. She would then go find someplace to get cleaned up, fed, and take a nap.
Cadyrhem had long since lost track of the number of times he'd heard that phrase. Erecting tents, handing out food and blankets, tending to wounds and wiping away tears, the work went on and on. He didn't complain. This was his duty and calling, to aid others, and he was determined to do everything in his power to help.
The warmaster practically had to drag him to his bunk, reminding him that there would be work still in the morning and he would be of no help to anyone unless he rested. Perhaps he was more worn out than he realized. The moment his head hit the pillow sleep claimed him, his last thought a warm contentment that he'd been given a chance to fulfill his purpose.
Siwan loves music. She calls it 'sound with a purpose' and often sits at the outer edges of norn lodges to listen to their songs. One of them noticed her and gave her a flute, which she learned to play quickly. Occasionally travelers in the Shiverpeaks remark on hearing music in the snow, giving the locals a chance to spin yarns about the hermit. Siwan finds these tales very amusing.
Every morning Astrid and Alver take a few minutes to do each other's hair. Astrid sits patiently while her brother gathers her dreads up into an artful bun, and then Alver sits while his sister braids his hair. It's a calming ritual for both of them.
Cadyrhem fancies himself a poet. He's getting better at it, and his comrades find comfort in his voice when he murmurs a sonnet during a long shift or eerie patrol.
