I! NEED! MOOOOOORE!
there's a storm in the distance 🌩️
(reposted sorry lol)
Why is Tumblr, the IDES OF MARCH site, the one place we CELBRATE BRUTUS STAB STAB STABING HIS FRIEND, is not talking about the TikTok woman who is planning a Julius César musical adapting the Shakespeare play with a tiny bit of historical realism (is not historical just more than Shakespeare). The songs are sooo good and so clever. Someone give her the Epic treatment asap because she does want to actually cast people and make this a full concept album and we need it.
Here is a link to her page.
Hello yall, I know I’ve been a little dead (as my activity is lowkey tied to Jorge’s) but, there have been a couple updates in some other smaller musicals I listen to, so I thought while we wait for Ilum I’d share them with yall!
The Caesar Musical, which is being written by Grace Yurchuk, is currently in a countdown to a kickstarted to be able to make a Caesar EP with some songs on it! (And eventually work towards a full length musical!)
Fated the Musical just released their first teaser song (the first song of the show, to build up hype before the first Chronicle Drop!). It’s called Raise the Crown and it’s on all music streaming services, so I highly recommend checking it out! (It’s phenomenal!)
And that’s all for now!
I think one of the most interesting parts of shall Rome is when Cassius kinda soliloquy near the end of the song.
“What makes him different-What makes me so different” because of course we can already know he’s a prideful character, but this line kinda imply that he what’s to be Caesar (be him or be with him)
Is this kinda of a dumb thought; yes but idk I think it’s so interesting that we get to see Cassius motivation
Aaron “Wait For It” Burr and Marcus “I Don’t See How This Can End Well” Junius “Father, Give Me One More Lesson” Brutus should hang out
Alexander “I Am Not Throwin’ Away My Shot” Hamilton and Gaius “It’s Our Turn To Finally Change The Tide” Julius “‘Cause Everybody’s Standing Stagnant While I’m One Step Ahead” Caesar should also hang out
I think they’d have a lot to talk about
Actually, on this same train of thought . . .
Thomas “We Fought For These Ideals, We Shouldn’t Settle For Less“ Jefferson and Gaius “Thus Is The Life Of Rome’s Most Honorable Men“ Cassius “I’d Rather Have More Civil War Than Witness Caesar Claiming He’s A King“ Longinus
James “As Long As He Can Hold A Pen, He’s A Threat“ Madison and Publius “And Then The Crowd Was Swayed, It Honestly Looked Homemade“ Servilius “No Man Alive Would Consider Denying Bad Omens From The Heavens“ Casca
John “That Poor Man, They’re Going To Eat Him Alive“ Adams and Lucius “I Am A Typical Man, Who Am I To Stand By While My Friends Are Fooled By Caesar’s Old Show“ Cornelius “Bring Back The Old Republic, The Rome I Fell In Love With“ Cinna
John “Raise A Glass To Freedom” Laurens and Marcus “Friends, Romans, Countrymen; Today We’ll Chase The Setting Sun“ Antonius
“you kill the snake before it hatches out of the shell!” is really such a fascinating lyric to me, i think it sums up the song so well: throughout, brutus tries so desperately to parallel himself to his father, despite being the pompey of this situation and knowing it. “snake” evokes such a specific image of a traitor, which caesar is — to rome, at least — but brutus also knows that he very much also a snake, to caesar — which is just as if not more important to him, if we’re considering the previous lyrics and verses
