"In the present day also, people all over the world may join together in the Krsna consciousness movement and protest against the present degraded governments of the world's godless societies, which are based on all kinds of sinful activities. Srimad-Bhagavatam states that in the Age of Kali, thieves, rogues and fourth-class people who have neither education nor culture capture the seats of governments to exploit the citizens. This is a symptom of Kali-yuga that has already appeared. People cannot feel secure about their lives and property, yet the so-called governments continue, and government ministers get fat salaries, although they are unable to do anything good for society. The only remedy for such conditions is to enhance the sankirtana movement under the banner of Krsna consciousness and protest against the sinful activities of all the world's governments. The Krsna consciousness movement is not a sentimental religious movement; it is a movement for the reformation of all the anomalies of human society."

Ratha Yatra commemorates the time when the Supreme Lord Sri Krishna journeyed to Kurukshetra in a chariot, adorned in royal attire, wearing a turban, and surrounded by horses and elephants. When news of this reached Vrindavan, Srimati Radharani and the Gopis travelled to Kurukshetra to meet Krishna. They pleaded with Him, saying, "If you truly have mercy on us, then discard your turban, leave the battlefield, the horses, and the elephants, and come with us to Vrindavan. We will decorate You with beautiful, fragrant forest flowers." This sentiment was expressed by Lord Chaitanya, the Supreme Lord who descended in the form and mood of Srimati Radharani. During the Ratha Yatra festival, Lord Chaitanya organised seven groups of sankirtan teams, and thus the Lord danced while everyone pulled Lord Jagannath’s chariot towards Vrindavan, echoing the mood of Radharani and the Gopis in Kurukshetra. As followers of Lord Chaitanya, we should all imbibe this mood of seeing the Lord in His home in Vrindavan, the most blissful and peaceful place. We must use the chariot-like body we inhabit to chant the Hare Krishna Mahamantra, to reach the home of the Lord and attain eternal happiness.
