First Response Negative
I'll admit, for a week I hoped rather than dreaded. Listened for ghost heartbeats with my head cocked.
No one cooed on crowded busses or pressed ear to belly button. My feet braced for planetary shifts.
And my tongue came loose to tell you the news— scrambling upward like life clawing its way to light.
And I could see the mouth open, agape in yawn and scream.
Yet longing was all there was of this sinewy bridge to you, thumping on the air with fists that look like yours.

Event: One Story Staff Reading at Old American Can Factory (Feb. 18)
On Friday, February 18, literary magazine One Story is holding a staff reading at The Old American Can Factory in Gowanus. Each of the staff members will read a brief selection from a published story, and from what I understand there will be drinks.
For those who are unfamiliar, One Story is a non-profit literary magazine that contains, simply, one story. Issues of One Story are artfully designed, lightweight, easy to carry, and available by subscription only. New issues arrive approximately every three weeks.
