Pokémon Personality Profiles: #687 Malamar

With a combination of both the Dark and Psychic types, Malamar is among the most intelligent of all Pokémon. This type combination also gives it the strongest hypnotic powers, which it naturally uses by flashing its bioluminescent spots to draw prey towards it. Malamar is also able to make humans do whatever it wants, and is rumored to have influenced the outcomes of past wars and political turnovers. Any humans who have undergone hypnosis by a Malamar do not retain any memories of the incident, making it easy for Malamar to take advantage of them again.

After seeing the popularity of only a select number of Pokémon in merchandise such as Pikachu, Charizard, Lucario, and Mimikyu; one particularly jealous and attention-seeking Malamar and its Trainer broke the Internet. After Mega Evolving, the Malamar placed the staff of The Pokémon Company and Bulbapedia under its control to create a viral advertising campaign called My Friend Malamar so that the general public would recognize it. Before this campaign, not many Trainers owned Malamar, but Inkay is now increasing in popularity as Trainers seek to evolve a more unusual friend.

While this particular Trainer had a close bond with her Malamar, those who don’t will become its pawns as well. As Mega Malamar, it is even able to shape the personalities and memories of humans, including its own Trainer. This makes Malamar a challenging Pokémon to raise, but all of those who have successfully done so didn’t want the My Friend Malamar campaign to end.

Inktober 2025, giorno 31 : Inquietante/Award This is my personal ranking of the creepiest Pokémon: Mimikyu looks monstrous under its cloth, Blacephalon literally blows its own head off and Mega Malamar… is everyone's friend, whether they like it or not. now plays also with this

and the other one that I thought will play to Calamanero’s return (except there wasn’t one) appeared with Nihilego as well

Not sure if Malamars were supposed to be from Ultra Space but what a coincidence! And both Nihilego and Calamanero from back then are pretty hostile, powerful.

Either way, my headcanon (or canon even?) is clear...
