DM: You could ask Calaphan what the deal was with Demogorgon. I had a reason. I'm just saying, as DM, you never actually asked them.

Tati (playing Seraph): I'm just saying, as a player, any question we've ever asked them beyond 'what's on the menu?' has been answered with 'no comment'.

Hamish (playing Thaddeus): She's got a point.

DM: Okay, fair. But he seems to be in more of a sharing mood today.

Hamish: He's off business hours.

Tati: We've levelled up.

M (playing Kjell): I'm curious why, out of all the adventurers who've found the tavern, they want us.

Tati: Maybe we're not the first. Maybe others have tried and died in the attempt.

Andy (playing Una): Don't like that.

Marijn (playing Godric): I don't feel like the Dust of Life is very safe where it is. It would be safer with us.

Tati: *squints* It's in Corellon's house.

Marijn: Where anyone could get it!

Adam: It's been safe there for millenia. That's kind of the whole point of this quest.

Marijn: *groans* I just want it.

Adam: No, Godric.

DM: A little later in the evening, there's another guest announced by the herald. This isn't strange, as there have been a few late arrivals after you, but this time his voice is trembling almost uncontrollably. "Announcing... Calaphan the First."

Tati (playing Seraph): 'First' as in...?

DM: There are strangled gasps around the room. You look up and see a familiar humanoid figure composed of golden light, usually seen behind the bar of The God and the God tavern.

Tati: Holy shit. It is.

DM: The shining figure walks soundlessly down the wide staircase and says in a normal voice that nonetheless carries to every room in the palace, "I am here to speak to Travelling Trauma Centre."

Adam (playing Billie): Oh, fuck. Billie is too drunk for this.

DM: There is a very wide bubble around Calaphan, and absolute silence in the ballroom.

Adam: I ask, "Do we have to do this here?"

DM: The featureless golden head turns to you. "No. We could meet in my tavern, but in the Feywild that means the physical building, which is a short journey for me but a... meaningful distance for you."

Adam: "Look, just... The last time someone called us out in front of a crowd like this it was really scary. Is this a good thing or a bad thing?"

DM: "My apologies. I come with an offer for you. I will ask if there is a room we can talk in." He turns to the dais and says to King Sovelias and Queen Hylhanna, "May we borrow a room in which to converse privately?" They kneel in front of him and eagerly offer rooms.

Adam: I stand right next to him so it feels like they're bowing to me too.

Kjell (half-elf barbarian): What is the task you want us to do?

DM: Calaphan says, "To retrieve an object of interest from a dangerous location. Standard adventuring fare."

Una (genasi artificer): Why can't you do it?

Seraph (siren sorcerer): Contractual Feywild stuff?

DM: "Something like that."

Kjell: Where is it?

DM: "Four or five days west of here there is a House, abandoned for a long time. Inside the house there is a bag of Dust. My sister and I desire the Dust."

Kjell: *narrows eyes* Whose house is it?

DM: "That knowledge is not essential to the quest."

Kjell: *flatly* Forget it.

Seraph: We often don't know all the details. What's the reward?

DM: "A favour for a favour."

Una: Okay, I'm in.

Thaddeus (khajiit paladin): That is... deeply tempting. Will the owner of the house be angry with us?

DM: Calaphan says, "No. With me, maybe. Not with you."

Godric (fairy warlock): Why can't you go there?

DM: "I am barred from entry."

Godric: Are they more powerful than you?

DM: "They were, when they lived there."

Thaddeus: Shit. How long ago was this?

Kjell: *snarls* Whose fucking house is it?

DM: He pauses. "...The House belonged to Corellon."

Seraph: *nods*

DM: He asks, "Do you know who my sister and I are?"

Thaddeus: Really vaguely.

Kjell: *shrugs unwillingly* The first elves, or something.

DM: "We are the first beings Corellon made when he was trying to create life. He conceived us in his image, but he put too much of his strength and too much of his divine spark into us. We were not what he wished to govern. After us they made the eladrin, and after them the elves, and then he was more satisfied. But we endure. We are godlike, but not true deities. It is a strange existence; certainly not mortal, but not truly divine."

Billie (gnome ardent): So what does the dust do?

DM: "The Dust is what Corellon and his sisters Sehanine and Lolth used to create the fey races. It would allow my sister and I to take that step to becoming true deities. That is what we desire."

DM: You talk with The Craftsmen and since you're not going to steal the Dust of Life for Calaphan, you'll all return to the Material Plane today. We'll skip past the fluff because there's plot I'd like to hit this session. When you get back through the portal, it feels like your sense of smell is deadened and everything looks a little greyscale - it'll return to normal as you get used to it, but after the Feywild everything is a bit less. The magic users feel your power levels drop back to their normal levels, no longer Feywild-boosted.

Seraph (siren sorcerer): I hate this.

Godric (fairy warlock): Yeah, ew.

Kjell (half-elf barbarian): Thank the gods.

DM: The Craftsmen say goodnight and head home.

Billie (gnome ardent): Hey, I know we walked all yesterday and partied all night and then walked all today, but I'm still feeling kinda pumped. You want to come back for a late spa?

DM: Alwel and Glatur are too tired. Telchal says hell yes.

Marijn (playing Godric): I want the Dust of Life.

Hamish (playing Thaddeus): To give to King Ellidir?

DM: Oh, shit.

Marijn: *blinks* No, for me!

DM: Phew.

Hamish: If Calaphan and Cassilion became real gods, that favour they owe us would become a favour from a god.

Andy (playing Una): Oh, fuck. That's a decision and a half.

M (playing Kjell): No. Kjell's whole thing is trauma around a powerful being cruelly and irresponsibly creating life for bad reasons. No.

Hamish: I think on this kind of scale, if one person says no it's a whole party nope.

DM: That's fair. You've got a week to think about it. It's late, we'll end the session there.
