Chapter 19 - Shattered is posted! The long awaited showdown with the Demon Queen! See below the cut for a small fluffy excerpt.

It’d been a long while since he’d lingered over someone so. Sure, there’d been a bevy of little loves, someone to pass a pleasurable night or three with, with nothing more to it understood by everyone. But Sainen had been his true partner, the one who could keep up with him (and often surpass him) in more than just plain desire, and not since then had anyone else kept his heart in their hands.

Until the night in the Red Moon Hall with Lysistrata. They’d spent nearly more time talking than anything else, and the hours had stretched long in the dark till he could have sworn it’d been days he’d spent with her.  If he could’ve explained what it was that drew him to the woman, what had him hanging on her words as much as she hung on his, why he loved she called him “sunshine” and “cowboy” (he’d not touched ranch work in years), what made the air between them feel full of heat and crackle and make the bitty hairs rise like a summer lightning storm— 

What made the restlessness that drove him from town to town settle and be at peace just near her, made all the black urges to restitution and penance quiet down under her gaze, what made him want to do anything just to get her to smile, to laugh, to be just as happy as she made him— Well. He couldn’t explain it, and that was love, so far as he knew.  

“Why she picked a fella like me, though—can’t fathom it,” he muttered. Makan stirred, and he hefted her up higher against his chest, adjusting his grip. “Ssh, sorry, dove, ’salright. ‘m just talkin’ t’myself.”

“Should sing,” Makan murmured, half-awake. “‘s a decent voice. Keep the wicked spirits away.”

“Sure, darlin’. G’wan back t’sleep. Little while yet before we stop.” .” The sun vanished behind the Firepeaks off to his left and the sky darkened into crimsons and violets. Mars’ baleful eye shown down on them still. Caleb cast about for a song he knew, humming bits to get the tune right, and finally began to sing for the girl.

“From this valley they say you are leaving, We will miss your bright eyes and sweet smile, For they say you are taking the sunshine Which has brightened our pathways a while.

Come and sit by my side if you love me; Do not hasten to bid me adieu, But remember the Red River Valley, And the one that has loved you so true...” ...end excerpt...

The second I heard Liam was playing a character named Caleb I had to draw this. My Caleb, and his, commiserating over whisky.

My Caleb really has no room to judge, he’s started more than his fair share of bar fights, I just thought it was a funny mental image :)

(not sure if it’s spoilery because none of this has happened in stream, but it does show some of the new characters, so tagged cr spoilers just to be safe)
