always & never
As much as she wanted it to be, Roxy quickly realized that her first priority couldn't be her friends. Finding shelter and some way to get warm absolutely had to come first. The thought of contacting her friends as soon as she was safe motivating her steps, she trudged through the snow in no particular direction, looking out for anything that resembled some form of shelter. With no idea how long she had walked thus far and even less idea how far she had yet to walk, she kept going, footstep after footstep leaving a long and winding trail behind her. It seemed like hours before she spotted a dark hole in a cliffside who knew how far ahead of her. A small black beacon of hope in an endless sea of white, the sight of the cave opening gave her steps renewed vigor as she headed toward it. However long it took, she didn't care, just so long as she got there. Pale grey clouds covered the sun, leaving the Lalonde with no way to tell how long the remaining walk was, but if she had to hazard a guess, she'd probably have said no more than five minutes. Letting out a sigh of relief, she stumbled into the cave, kicking the snow off of her sneakers as she walked. It didn't do much to help the cold penetrating her tippy toes, but it was movement, something to keep her from crumpling into a vaguely Roxy-shaped pile on the floor. Brushing as much snow as she could off of herself, she blinked a few times, trying to get her pupils to adjust to the darkness of the cave in comparison to how bright it was outside with all the snow.
