Trick or treat!
Have some Crimson Peak ramblings!!
I like to think that Edith is frequently visited by Thomas's ghost the rest of her life. Some nights when it's dark and stormy and Edith is writing her latest novel, her room suddenly gets cold, and she knows Thomas is there. Thomas doesn't speak to her. He sits quietly on her bed or in her arm chair, watching her write. He smiles softly at her, enjoying the soft sound of her pen scratching in her notebook. Her typing machine is a bit loud but he finds it fascinating. Even in death, the progression of technology brings him great joy. He lingers as long as he can, but eventually fades away. Edith knows he'll be back and doesn't fuss.
Edith enjoys the company. She feels a little sad when she looks at him, knowing what could have been had he been able to get away from his sister, but she knows being trapped as a ghost is more than punishment for what he did to the other women he married before her. He looks much more peaceful as a ghost than he ever did as a man.
Sometimes when Alan visits Edith, he'll catch her staring at something behind him, but when he turns to look, he doesn't see anything. He asks what she was looking at of course, but she always smiles and says it's nothing. Edith's house is always cold, even in the summertime. Alan is a man of science, but after everything Edith told him about what happened on Crimson Peak, he's inclined to believe in the supernatural.
