Call against Section 112209 Of reconciliation Bill passage before 1:00 pmCentral today
can find representatives here
Find Your Representative | house.gov
The legislation, previously introduced in the last congress as H.R. 6408 and most recently as H.R. 9495, would grant the administration’s Secretary of the Treasury unchecked power to revoke the nonprofit tax status of religious, charitable, and advocacy organizations, without evidence, formal charges, or due process. The measure is now buried on page 380 as “Section 112209” of the House Republican’s proposed reconciliation package, which is being marketed as part of House and President Trump’s “The One, Big, Beautiful Bill” tax proposal.
This would be a huge blow to free speech and education
From FFTF:
This is the big bill to defeat at the moment. The non-profit killer bill from last year, if you remember.

We need to drive those calls ASAP. If this bill passes, it will be disastrous for soooo many orgs. Including ones like FFTF. Including AO3!!
202-224-3121 connects you to your reps. flood THOSE CALLS! Tell them NO on this bill.
If the “save act” passes, any women who legally changed her name at marriage would lose the right to vote. That is 80% American women ineligible to vote.
Call your representatives now and every day until this is stopped!

I love it when people are like "Oh, yeah, Harris lost by one vote."
Actually, she had gotten 6,285,500 less votes than Biden in 2020.
donald got 3,059,799 more votes than he did in 2020.
She lost because more people got brainwashed by the right and less of the left voted—so, yeah, you people who didn't vote cuz you didn't think it would do anything?
Go fuck yourself
friendly reminder that 5calls is useful tool for pestering your representatives. go forth and be a pain in the ass
Spend 5 minutes. Make 5 calls. Make your voice heard.
FCC repealed net neutrality but congress still has to pass it. Maybe that's why you should text "RESIST" to 50409 and visit battleforthenet.com
No matter what happens tomorrow with the FCC vote... we’ll still have to fight
Whether we win or lose in the Net Neutrality vote it won’t be the end of things. If we lose, and it’s kinda looking that way now, that isn’t the say-all-end-all for this issue. The FCC won’t force censorship and speed throttling on you at the stroke of midnight following the decision- the policy won’t be put into place this Congress even, I don’t think. From what I understand it will be the members of Congress, the House of Representatives and the Senate that will hear the proposal if the vote goes forward and they will have to ratify it before it goes into effect. Telecom companies won’t be able to change their plans or their policies until the rules are officially changed by the government.
This is why it is so important to get in touch with your representatives now, to make your voices heard at every opportunity. The FCC won’t have the final say, Verizon’s lapdog won’t get to make the rules for the Internet in the end- in the end it will be the law-makers and congresspeople who have to give the go-ahead. Get their ear and let them know how important this is to you, to the country and the economy, to society as a whole.
My advice is also to bring up the 2018 election if they are up for re-election next Fall and say you will consider it a deciding issue on whether you and all the people you know on Social Media and in your circle of friends votes for them. If nothing else will, that will get them to listen.
So E-mail, call, and protest. Use the most visible means of speaking out that you can. If you, like me, are uncomfortable talking on the phone many reps and senators have personal E-mails available to contact them regarding specific issues. Find your representative using this tool if you aren’t sure: https://www.house.gov/representatives/find-your-representative
And then send them a message. I’ve done so to my district rep. The letter I sent can be used as a template if you like.
Dear Senator/Representative, (use the correct honorific Sen., Rep., or Congressman/woman and their name)
I am a concerned constituent of (your state). I would like to bring your attention to that upcoming vote from the Federal Communications Commission to remove Title 2 distinctions from the Telecommunications Act of 1996 which classifies telecom Internet providers and broadband as Common Carriers as opposed to Information Providers. It is this classification that prevents Telecom giants from throttling Internet speeds and creating fast and slow lanes that segregate and separate information on the Internet. It prevents giant industries like Comcast and Verizon from pushing their agendas and creating monopolies that harm consumers with the utility service they provide.
It is my feeling that society depends enormously on the equal access to information on the Internet- so much of our inter-connected business and personal lives depend on Net Neutrality. By removing it, the citizens of our State and country lose a vital part of our freedom and access to unbiased information, which is essential to running a democracy.
The vote, which takes place on December 14th, has me and a very large majority of my friends and family concerned. Net Neutrality is an extremely important issue to me and it is my strong feeling that it will be an important issue come election time. The commitment to upholding it, or re-instating it should it be repealed, will decide who I, and a large portion of your district, vote for.
Any representative, senator, congressperson, Republican or Democrat has a duty to uphold the desires of their constituents and the communities they serve. Any cursory glance will tell you that the vast, vast majority of the country supports Net Neutrality across party lines, demographics, and districts. I hope you will do everything in your power to stop this disastrous repeal.
Sincerely,
(your name)
I would encourage you to add personal touches, such as how Net Neutrality effects you, sourced facts about Net Neutrality, and especially how it locally engenders positive growth in your community. Also, give them a clear way forward, you can mention specific legislation, like this bill from Rep. Maloney in New York: https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-bill/4585/committees which calls for a delay and investigation and prohibits Verizon’s lap dog from repealing Net Neutrality specifically, and encourage them to cosponser and support it.
We can make this happen if we all work together.
5 calls a day to make your voice heard
Yo, American Tumblr! I know that not all of you can make phone calls, and if you can’t, please take care of yourself/resist another way.
HOWEVER, if you CAN call, please do. This website has a list of causes with short scripts, suggestions for what to do when you’re on the phone, & will look up your senators & representatives for you. The only downside is that it only has DC numbers listed, but once you know your reps’ names, you can google their local/in-state number.
I’m also excited about his because it launched last week, but today seems to be ERUPTING. In the 4 hours since I started looking at it this morning, something like 22,000 calls have been logged via the site.

If we have to go down, let us go down screaming and kicking the whole fucking way.
(PS: However, tips via 5calls regarding comments: be polite, be clear in what you’re opposing, be quick. If you have trouble on the phone, read all or part of the provided script.)
