LIZ WILLIAMS

Liz Williams has a bionic smile that seems to extend through walls and defy many of the most basic laws of physics.

At her essence, Liz is a bowl full of giggles and southern charm. (She grew up in Texas and Argentina.) She’s polite and wild. Pretty and humble. Just the sight of her can turn a bad day into one of your best ever. Her attitude is so perky that if she wasn't so genuinely kind and thoughtful, you'd think she was on a whole variety pack of Hunter S. Thompson-style uppers.

I met Liz at my now former job at Ogilvy & Mather, where she started out as an associate. Associates are like interns without college credit. Luckily, she was hired as a planner, and we had the supreme good fortune of working together on one of the most difficult and dysfunctional clients I've ever encountered. (Hint: giant American clothing company with stores around the globe who makes basics for your closet that they consider high fashion.) Then, even luckier, she got out of Ogilvy to be a planner at a hotbed for planning. (It’s an advertising thing, non-advertising people.)

While we presently don't see much of each other, when we do, I'm high on lovliness for days.

Liz, like Michael Craig, is a cyborg.

How could I not have purchased this shirt when I saw it in a St. Louis thrift shop on the second day of a cross country road trip with some of my best college buddies? The Midwest has some of, if not the best thrift stores in the world. Sure, you can get great stuff here in New York, but in the city, clothes appreciate in value faster than fine wine. In the Midwest, they understand you shouldn’t pay more for clothes somebody else sweat in.
