This place wasn’t worth the goddamn effort.
Sirus didn’t often go out for ‘treks’ like this. Leaving the woods was a gamble in and of itself, but now he’d trekked across the whole kingdom just to get here - on the word of some no-name merchant and a random eavesdrop out of boredom. ‘Orbs of power’ his ass. He didn’t even care that there was quite a fair amount of gold in here - who the hell was going to sell anything to him?
He’d braved trap after trap in this forsaken temple, built into the base of the mountain. He almost lost his tail to a falling saw, and he’d had enough of the stupid skeleton ambushes. He couldn’t burn bone, for fuck’s sakes.
By now, he was at the tower peak of the temple - sitting over the edge of one of the stone window frames and looking out at the large field and the substantial decline into the forest below. The view was nice, he could give it that much.
...What is that?
The sorcerer’s eyes narrowed at the small shape...shapes? It looked like someone...running away from several other someones. He couldn’t make out how many. Sucks to be them.
...
The realization hit him in a wave of irritation. The only way away from the ‘other someones’ was towards the temple. For fuck’s sake.
Sirus stuffed his stowed bag of apples away, shoving one in his mouth for the road as he got to his feet. They just had to come and ruin his nice moment.
