✶ ︵ *dash game: knowing your writing partner can potentially make writing together a lot easier!
the basics
name: Kovenient aka Kove
pronouns: He/Him sexuality: Heterosexual
three facts
Thanks to the horrors wonders of genealogy efforts on my dad's side of the family, I can correctly claim that I am equally, if extremely distantly, related to two different US Presidents (neither of them orange, thankfully)
While raised on the likes of Tolkein from a young age, and exposed to Douglas Adams early on as well, some of the most influential books I've ever read as a writer were by Stephen R. Donaldson.
In my school days, I was on national television at least once, however briefly, for a major Parade event
roleplay experience
how long: I've been roleplaying and writing for probably closer to 12 years, but it feels like longer sometimes, even if I have been prone to hiatuses and infrequent posting for many of those years.
platforms you've used: Gaiaonline, skype, Discord
best experience: Tumblr and Discord as a combined platform for organization and plotting
muse preferences
female or male: Mostly male, but not inherently against doing female or gender-fluid muses, just never had inspiration for one that didn't outweigh the anxiety of trying to do characters with those distinctions justice concerning identity and societal topics
fluff, angst, smut: I like all of them with caveats: I dislike fluff that doesn't have a genuine emotional depth to it, angst that doesn't drive the story/plot towards a better future or otherwise lacks a point beyond being angst, and smut that isn't anything more than two or more self-inserts bumping uglies for its own sake either.
plots or memes: I enjoy using memes and prompts to get my foot in the door, but I absolutely LIVE for heavy plotting on a macro scale if not micro. The details and setups are the best way to ensure maximum irony/awesome/etc. in my book.
long or short replies: I can be a tad over-perfectionistic the more I have to work with, but while its arguably easy to pump out shorter answers in theory I definitely on average write at least a few paragraphs, and can easily write far more if allowed to pursue inspiration without other considerations.
best time to write: Late afternoon/evening/night, when the body is relaxed but the insomniac instincts let the mind run wild-
are you like your muse(s): While I do my best to ensure none of my current muses are self-inserts, it would be a boldfaced lie to claim I don't put a lot of myself into my muses, especially Hriob. Insofar as being Autistic-coded and well-intentioned if often misunderstood or misunderstanding of/by others, he and I have that very much in common, historically speaking.

[ @dethdncr @the-unsung-lament the team assembles as the Feast continues...]
"...alright. Our team starts with one of the most infamous death-defying paranormal investigators in the world, an admiral from another world with decades of tactical acumen - I know you technically are trying not to stand out but I am staying frank and honest for sake of expedient and factual tactical assessment - and yours truly; one of the strongest players on the board with tracking and survival skills honed since childhood, among other tricks and tools. We play our cards right, stay together, work as a team, and there is no reason to believe we cannot go far enough to clutch this victory. Let us try and see if we cannot get some preliminary tactics or strategies out of the way, or identify any enemy teams we should prioritize."
Victory had eluded him one time too many, thanks in part to a silly-if-seemingly-innocent bet. Not this time.
Small fantasy worldbuilding elements you might want to think about:
A currency that isn’t gold-standard/having gold be as valuable as tin
A currency that runs entirely on a perishable resource, like cocoa beans
A clock that isn’t 24-hours
More or less than four seasons/seasons other than the ones we know
Fantastical weather patterns like irregular cloud formations, iridescent rain
Multiple moons/no moon
Planetary rings
A northern lights effect, but near the equator
Roads that aren’t brown or grey/black, like San Juan’s blue bricks
Jewelry beyond precious gems and metals
Marriage signifiers other than wedding bands
The husband taking the wife's name / newlyweds inventing a new surname upon marriage
No concept of virginity or bastardry
More than 2 genders/no concept of gender
Monotheism, but not creationism
Gods that don’t look like people
Domesticated pets that aren’t re-skinned dogs and cats
Some normalized supernatural element that has nothing to do with the plot
Magical communication that isn’t Fantasy Zoom
“Books” that aren’t bound or scrolls
A nonverbal means of communicating, like sign language
A race of people who are obligate carnivores/ vegetarians/ vegans/ pescatarians (not religious, biological imperative)
I’ve done about half of these myself in one WIP or another and a little detail here or there goes a long way in reminding the audience that this isn’t Kansas anymore.
Looks at the dashboard. Looks at Hriob.
Amata places a hand on Hriob's shoulder. "Don't."

@hriobzagelthewanderer
An attempt was made to travel into the Earth World... but she's struggling. While this is a job normally sent to her landing parties and other subordinates, this woman has a personal connection with the Odi Parush. Something about him prompts her to go on her own.
At current, she is the highest rank among her people within the Divine Chorus. So by that logic... she doesn't have to answer to anyone.
....outside of the Divine Chorus, but... details details.
She tests out the Sigil of Glamour carved into stone kept in her breast pocket... but it's not perfect. Something about it isn't right. Maybe Morfa didn't inscribe the Sigil solidly enough. Maybe a rune or glyph stroke is missing or misplaced. Either way, the Admiral's disguise is flickering in greens around her form as she happens upon a certain forest within the Earth World.
And this magic.... it's very easily detectable.
"Curses... how is this supposed to work?"
A common rule often forgotten, unknown, or otherwise unaddressed by those who travel between worlds, is that one's identity, one's existence, carries a sort of metaphysical weight. Some more-so than others, as one's nature can sometimes affect their surroundings on its own merits... be it a boon or a plague on those around them.
For those able to 'read' or 'feel' the souls and essence of others, being able to tell if someone is 'native' to the world is, if not easy, then not entirely difficult if one knows what to look for... being able to tell if one individual is from the same origin as another individual is not exactly the same, but not at all dissimilar, much as trying to figure out if two people are from the same country based on how they pronounce the word 'haberdasher' might work out to a linguist.
Of course, if one uses magic... it might not be the same as having a spiritual 'accent' so much as spiritual 'mannerisms', but it can often be used in much the same manner to distinguish where one may have come from or at least learned said magics from.
And compared to most other forms of magic Hriob has been exposed to, the Sigils of the Children of Bu'hay are about as modest and reserved as the attire of a well-to-do, if horribly colorblind golf enthusiast.
...needless to say, the Admiral was not alone for long, however lost she may or may not have believed herself to be. A large figure approached with similarly large walking stick in hand, keeping his distance but with the hood of his cloak only mostly covering his head - enough dark-blood-red hair shown through the leaf-filtered sunlight to cover his eyes, if barely, but not enough to hide the clear interest and focus of the stranger towards the other traveler.
...eventually, the taller of the two spoke up, softly if with a resonant tone of voice that carried easily to the ears of those that heard: "...that is an, interesting predicament you seem to be dealing with. A disguise that only half-works is no working disguise at all - at best it is an interesting fashion choice. Do you require assistance with that spell of yours?"
"FINALLY! SOME GOOD EXPLANATIONS! Do you have ANY idea how hard it is to soft through public libraries! So much work!"
"You gotta admit the dancing one is pretty funny though, huh? Besides the death and all- My spectacular hallucination abilities make humans do the most laughable things! Worst thing it even brought about was someone walking off a small cliff- BUT THEY SURVIVED! And it was mostly their fault anyways."
"Ah, Glad I could help then! Sometimes I worry that when I get too caught up in talking about something others do not actually listen or take anything in, either because they are being facetious or I am rambling too fast or in too complex vocabulary for them."
"...I am more a fan, personally, of letting people suffer for their arrogance and mistaken assumptions. Nothing quite like getting into some sort of bet or contest and letting the other party overreach, only to lord it over them when their egos are bruised and broken... But sillier pranks are always a fun palate cleanser, so long as they do not cause undue harm... just enough to teach a lesson, at worst."
"Can someone PLEASE explain the difference between the seelie and unseelie court- Ok so like, fairies and... Evil fairies? That makes no damn sense now! I'm pretty sure even the good ones are morally gray? I mean, have you HEARD the stories? Might as well be evil!"
"Okay, I can break it down for you. The Seelie, or Summer, Court, and the Unseelie, or Winter, Court, are not the only two factions of Fae, but they are the most numerous, prolific, and well-known if not-easily-understood. They might seem like complete opposites at a glance, but neither is really 'good' or 'evil' - those are moral distinctions they tend to ignore equally, after all."
"The real difference is the Seelie are Hedonists who see non-fae as fun toys or distractions but not as real people to care about - they may seem friendly at first but they are incapable of understanding or empathizing with others as feeling, thinking beings and can be devastatingly cruel without really understanding why what they are doing might be 'wrong', and thus they are deceptively dangerous to most outsiders and mortals."
"The Unseelie, while more self-aware, are no less dangerous because they are active and commiserate Sadists who cause pain on purpose because they get almost drunk at times off the satisfaction they get from doing so. They are no less hazardous to interact with - in fact they are often far worse a threat most of the time - but at least they are far more up front about it and easier to notice as a danger to most."
"In a nutshell? A Seelie will ask you to dance and not notice anything wrong if they keep you dancing well past the point your legs ground down to bloody stumps and you died from the exhaustion, an Unseelie will ask you to dance because they want to see that happen to you in the first place. They do the same sorts of things for wildly different reasons, but in the end they have more in common than different."
"...I was not monologing overmuch, was I? Did I help answer your question well enough?"
|| 🖤 ||: ❝ With all due respect, you mentioned your issues with it shortly after our conversation. How am I not to assume you weren't talking about that. ❞
|| 🖤 ||: ❝Didn't ask. Don't care. I'd highly recommend keeping your thoughts on that to your damn self. Sapient-rights-violation, tch, its not as if they asked to have to feed on blood or otherwise. I'm sure they're keenly aware of the inconveniences. Mind your damn business. ❞
"...simple? By not assuming? I know it seems all but impossible in this day and age but I do highly recommend that. I, for one, was still remembering... other instances of other bodily fluids from the day prior. Which shall be kept unspecified for my own mental health."
"But, if I was not clear enough, I do not like that certain people have no choice but to feed on such things - in no small part because of the harm and conflict it brews for both sides of the equation - and only dislike those who try to use that as an excuse for their actions instead of the other way around. I was under the impression you were not of their number, but if you truly enjoy that kind of dietary restriction so much I will gladly take my leave of you and this conversation."
|| 🖤 ||: ❝ "Some people." Tch. You can just say my name. ❞
|| 🖤 ||: ❝ Also. Fuck off. A vampire drinks blood and it's fine, but when I, a carnivorous succubus, do it then it's suddenly a problem. ❞
"With all due respect… I was not limiting the conversation to 'blood'. Nor you specifically. If I was, I would not limit myself nor be coy about it - you at least deserve that much."
"...And, Frankly speaking? I have issues with parasitic feeding habits in general for a number of reasons, vampire or not - and that does not extend necessarily to the vampires - or succubi - involved if they at least acknowledge the inconveniences and potential sapient-rights-violations therein. I am a Fae, I tend to get uneasy around demons and the undead equally for very similar reasons, but I am not a stereotype of my kind, nor will I treat others as such if they give me no reason to."
"...listen, the last thing anyone should want or need is to taste my blood, or have you lot forgotten the warnings against eating or drinking things from the Fae?"
"...if I cook food for someone and give it to them asking them to please eat it, that is different - I am giving permission specifically for them to eat it as it was made for them, but I... am deeply concerned by the mental directions some people here are taking the topics of bodily fluids..."
"...ah, yes. No need to do anything on my end, I bathe very regularly- thank you very much!"

"...I am not against vulgarity, but I find it wasteful if done for its own sake. If you have too much fun shouting slurs and making people uncomfortable 'for the love of the game', it just diminishes the impact overall."
"...If I am to swear, or curse, it should only be for very good reason - and at the exact perfect moment to maximize the potency and reach of each syllable. To drive the point home with all the force and precision of a sledgehammer slamming a nail into place in one fell swoop. Otherwise it is all just hot air with a bad aftertaste to me."
"...Perkele."
Not technically a slur, but- well, it says something for someone who's multilingual to switch to a very specific language to express anger and frustration.
"Voi vittu kaikenlaiset ankat, miksi kaikki yrittävät kirota jotain pirun merimiestä?"
Oh, wait- no, that's still not a slur, just, angry swearing in general.
