So yesterday an older woman was perusing our stall, and said that she loved the colours of the baby bibs my mum had sewn, but unfortunately she didn’t have anyone to buy for. Then she paused and corrected herself-

“Not that I’m hoping for any. I wouldn’t mind another baby in the family. But only if they stayed a baby. Can’t abide terrible toddlers. Or ten year olds. Or teenagers, actually, they are so awkward and horrible.” she half-laughed, with a visible shudder.

So, sort of jokingly, I said, “Well, we were all teenagers once!”

To which she gave me the fiercest glare I have ever seen, looked me up and down and said “let me guess, you’re an opinionated twenty-something?” before she turned on her heel and waltzed away.

Aye orite pal, I didn’t particularly like you either.

Everyone's been stressed as fuck today for some reason so I spent the afternoon skipping past them singing Mary Poppins songs in a really obnoxious cockney accent to ease the tension.....it didn't work but I feel better
