Calogan week 2017

Day #1 - Stargazing

Honestly this was an excuse to do a little layout as well, so I had fun with this!

me: i cannot stress enough, logan is absolutely black widow here

friend: And Caliban is absolutely terrified.

me: YES!!

friend: Logan clearly planned to fall out of a building while spinning his everything around like that. For some reason.Caliban was not informed or advised.

me:  the reason is it makes him more powerful

Well, here you go; calogan week condensed into one big art-bomb! I put a little bit more effort into these than my normal MS Paint scribbles, but I couldn’t go all-out since using the mouse kills me and this was a lot to do. I’ll be honest Caliban and Logan is one of those “I’m not against it at all, but it also isn’t my favorite” kinds of ships... mostly just because withing the confines of the movie, Logan is perhaps not at his emotional best and Caliban honestly deserves better. However, that is the fun thing about fan art and fan fiction; people can take what they like and amplify it, plus change what didn’t work for them. In a perfect world where everything is OK and nobody is dead (and maybe I get my favorite version of Logan, where he’s actually a turbo-dad and is capable of showing affection), things can work out! 

So, here we are, the calogan week prompts by @fly-weeabooty ! I know a couple different people were waiting for me to do this; sorry they don’t look so great, you all deserve better~

The first one with star gazing, I imagine Caliban takes every opportunity at night to NOT wear 5 layers of clothing, and Logan is probably pointing out constellations he learned in different countries (he has traveled a bit)

Haha, for the first date they got all dressed up to... eat some macaroni and cheese at home. It was kind of a big deal, since Logan finally figured out how how to mix it so the powdered cheese doesn’t stay in little clumps and actually blends (the trick is butter first, then milk, then cheese powder. don’t pour the milk over the cheese)

I figured for a road trip they’d drive out somewhere in the woods, maybe get all the way up to Canada somehow, and they go hiking and camping around. They have a lot of tarps to make sure the tent is safe from the sun, and Logan wakes Cal up once it starts getting dark (I just... didn’t want to draw them in a car... cars are hard to draw... so the road trip is camping)

I honestly had fun with the Werewolf AU; firstly, totally different world where Logan isn’t a mutant just a simple Canadian lumberjack. He knows that out in the woods lives the local recluse Cal, who pretty much only comes into town at night to buy pudding cups from the gas station. Nobody sees him during the day. Well, eventually Logan sees something that just about gives him a heart attack; some kind of giant white wolf! Turns out, it is Cal, who transforms in sunlight, and it is pretty painful turning wolf and turning back so he tries to avoid going out in the day. In the picture, Cal is trying to let him know he’s not going to hurt him, but he can’t talk when he’s changed. I debated making him a hairless wolf or not... I decided he grows whit fur down his bad, the edges of his arms/front legs, and from the waist down (sort of like a satyr/faun. I just wanted to draw a real wolf tail and not a naked possum thing)

When Caliban gets sick, Logan babys him big time~

For taking shelter during a storm, I thought it would be funny if it started getting overcast out in the desert but Cal kept wearing all his heavy clothing. Logan would want to know why, and Cal would explain “Because it is going to snow”. Logan would scoff, because how could he tell? You can’t smell snow! So they are outside, doing something like repair work on a car, and lo... sudden blizzard. Don’t worry Logan, you have a walking umbrella with you

Finally, the Under Cover Spies AU; I have an actual comic somewhere that has Logan in a tux with a white jacket and for some reason I always found that amusing. The boys are like... double agents who pretend to be working for 2 different groups, but they are actually a team. Cal works for some kind of crime boss, Logan works for a agency that is known for being good guys but has become corrupt. Shenanigans and gunfights ensue, imagine if an entire movie was about the Parents from Spy Kids before they started a family, plus Bond jokes

Hey, you know who looks good with a beard? Logan. You know what I am SICK OF DRAWING? LOGAN WITH HIS BEARD. so many... whiskers...

Calogan Week Day 4: Mine

AU Where Caliban escapes with the others instead of being captured. Set when they meet the family with the horses. "That's Laura, my daughter" Unsurprisingly Laura did nothing but continue to stare blankly at the horses, although Logan swore he felt the corners of her lips curl into a smile when he called her his daughter. "That's my Dad, Chuck" Logan pointed to where Charles was seated in the back of the car who gave a small nod in response. "And this is Cal my-" Logan faltered slightly as he tried to think of a reasonable explanation to why he'd be traveling with them. "-husband" he was surprised at the word that came from his mouth, but it was too late now to rectify it. All he had to do now was hope this family weren't homophobic. Or maybe it would have been better if they were, then they would have an excuse to get on there way so they weren't caught by Pierce. But they just smiled and invited them to stay the night and Charles answered yes before he could refuse. He returned to the car in a huff, finding Caliban smiling next to him as he slammed the door shut. "Husband?" The mutant asked. Logan shifted uncomfortably in his seat and made a big deal out of getting the car started before answering. "Hey I was under pressure! It was the first thing that came into my head!" "You could have said I was your brother" Caliban said with a teasing tone. He heard Charles and Laura giggle from the back. He sent them a glare before focusing extremely closely on the road so he wouldn't have to look Caliban in the face. "We look nothing alike!" He knew it was a weak answer. He could have easily said that Caliban was albino. "You could have explained that I was an albino" He heard Charles chuckle behind him and for the millionth time in his life cursed his mind reading abilities. "Whatever." Logan growled with the dignity of a teenage girl.
