authors note: I just had this idea of doing Cals eyebrows after looking at his insta and seeing how big and bushy they are🥺I've been having bad writers block for a while but when I thought of this idea I couldn't stop writing. I know the endings kinda shitty but I wanna save smut till I have more of a plot idea❤️

You and Calum were best friends and always have been since you where babies and like I mean “there’s photos of you guys together in the bath as toddlers” close. It was a usual night for you both relaxing on the couch, eating snacks and watching a movie. You had recently just moved into Calum’s apartment from Aus because you couldn’t deal with the long distance friendship thing and he had a spare room for you to move into so you both thought why not.

“Cal has anyone told you your eyebrows are super bushy” you say snapping him out of his gaze at the corny romance movie you insisted you both watched “what? that’s so mean y/n” he says now sporting a fake pout and puppy dog eyes looking your way, you smile moving closer to him inspecting his facial features “no seriously I’d kill for them brows but you need to groom them or something there a tad unruly” you laugh as his face contorts into a grimace as if it’s the worst thing you could’ve said to him at that moment “can you do them for me?” he asks staring into your eyes waiting for an answer “yeah sure I need my tweezers though” you tell him while getting up to go search for the small grey bag that contains your brow care essentials.

You plop downstairs and see Calum laying on the floor with a pillow under his head and a bowl full of ice next to him “hey Cal what’s the ice for bud?” you ask with an eyebrow raised “I thought you put it on your eyebrows before you tweeze them so it doesn’t hurt?” he says looking up at you with an inquisitive look on his face “no you just tweeze them it doesn’t hurt too bad I promise” you say sitting down on the floor behind him placing  the pillow on your lap for him to lie back down on, he gets comfy and stares up and you expectantly as you start brushing his brows with a spoolie “you ready?” you ask as your hand hovers over his forehead with the tweezers he nods and closes his eyes “can you countdown before you do it just so I know when its coming?” you giggle slightly at what he said “sure Cal its not gonna hurt though” you say amused at how afraid he is of something girls go through almost daily “okay 3,2..” you pluck a hair out and almost immediately he jumps up holding his hand to his eye “oh my god you told me it wouldn’t hurt and you didn’t even get to 1” you burst out laughing “dude your such a guy its crazy” you manage to get out while still laughing, you see him crack a smile at your amusement “you’re never doing that to me again” he says laying his head back down on your lap “why are you laying back down then” you ask puzzled “I don’t know its just comfy I guess” he says. You check the time on your phone its almost 3am “Cal its late” you say abit uncomfortable with the man in front of you laying on your lap with his body spread out across the floor only wearing a thin pair of basketball shorts and mismatched socks.

You started running you fingers through his short blonde hair as he opens his eyes and gazes up at you, you sigh as his chocolate brown eyes meet yours “your kinda beautiful you know” you whisper to him almost not wanting him to hear you “so are you, especially from this angle” he speaks up to you with an entertained look on his face. He starts sitting up and sits next to you leaning against the couch behind you “I’m serious you know y/n you’re actually really beautiful” He says his face now completely serious. His face is dangerously close to yours that you’re almost breathing his air. He starts to lean closer and before you know it his lips are smashed against yours. You lean into the kiss it wasn’t slow or drawn out it was needy and fast as if this had been a long time coming, which it had but that’s not something you wanted to say right now in case it ruined the moment. The fast paced kisses started to turn into sloppy, more reckless ones as you both started to get pretty heated you swung your legs over his straddling him but ruined the moment by sticking your foot right into the bowl of melted ice which was now just water and left you with a soggy sock. Calum just burst out laughing as you climbed off him to remove the sopping piece of clothing off of your foot. “I guess that’s that over for the night then” you smiled at him as he pulled you into his torso with his arm slung around you “our moms are gonna be happy” Calum says smirking down at you “I heard they’ve got a bet going on to see how long it would take for something like that to happen between us”. You smile slightly at his comment knowing how true it was and how long your moms have been wanting you guys together “we can continue this tomorrow after we talk about what just happened” you say leaning on his shoulder “we sure can” Calum says kissing your head.

9. “mmm… you’re warm”

movie nights had become sort of a weekly tradition between you and Calum. other than you, it was the one constant in his life, and he always cherished the time he got to spend with you.

you browse through the movies on netflix, not sure what you’re in the mood to watch. Calum picked the movie last week, so now it’s your turn. you’ve been picking something out of your comfort zone for the past few weeks, and you’re desperately wanting to pick something you know you’ll like.

Calum sets up the couch fort behind you, something he always does every friday night after he gets home from the studio. your food is sitting in the microwave so it can stay warm, and sit on the floor in frustration, trying to pick a movie.

you finally decide on Hairspray, one of your favorites since childhood, and even though Calum isn’t too into musicals, you know he’d appreciate it.

Calum grabs the food and the two of you settle into the fort, leaning on the back of the couch for support as you eat your Chinese take out and watch the movie in peace.

you’re covered in blankets since the air conditioning kicked on halfway through the movie, and that’s when Calum rests his head on your chest.

“mmm… you’re warm.” Calum says as he cozies into you.

you run your fingers through his hair and smile as you continue watching the movie.

2. “i need a hug”

waiting at the airport was always an event. fans were standing next to you as you wait for your boyfriend, Calum, to arrive back in L.A. from his overseas flight.

luckily, the fans surrounding you were sweet, trying their best to stay out of your business but also asking how you were and what you and Calum have planned for the rest of the day.

you notice the status of the board change, saying his plane has just landed. you instantly get butterflies in your tummy; you’re excited, nervous, and anxious of seeing your boyfriend walking through those doors and towards you.

you grab your phone and text Calum that you’re waiting for him, and warn him that there are a few fans around you as well, but that they’re nice for the most part.

soon enough, you see Calum and the boys walk through the sliding doors with his carry on bag slung around his shoulders.

instantly you break out into a run, so excited to see your boyfriend, even though you know he’s tired.

“i need a hug!” you shout, and your boyfriend catches you and spins you around, as you fling yourself into his arms. you wrap your legs around him and rest your elbows on his shoulders, looking into his eyes.

you hear fans giggling and saying how much they want a boyfriend like Calum as he holds you in his arms.

you place a sweet kiss on his lips, oh how you missed kissing him, and smile into it just barely.

“i missed you.”

“i’m home.” Calum smiles.

you don’t want to believe the headlines. most of the headlines throughout your relationship with Calum have been fake and the photos have been photoshopped, but now? you’re not so sure.

ever since he’d gotten home from tour, he’d been distant. conversations between you were short and curt, he’d done all he could to avoid you, and even the boys were acting differently towards you.

had Calum actually cheated on you?

you’re sitting on the couch, waiting for him to come home from the studio. you can barely look at the magazine on the table, but you need it, otherwise you’d avoid the situation at hand.

“i’m home.” Calum says. he actually sounds happy for the first time since being home.

you blink back tears and sigh, looking at the boy who has your heart in his hands.

“what’s this?” you ask, holding the magazine in your hand.

“i - i don’t know.” Calum says, taken aback that you’re crying. you usually never cry when you see headlines like this.

“Calum don’t lie to me.” you say, your voice harsher than you intended it to be. “what is this?”

Calum sighs and looks at you, rubbing his temples with his fingers.

“baby it’s just another headline, you can’t really believe it, can you?” Calum asks.

“i can tell when one of these photos are faked, Cal. i know that’s you kissing her.” you retort. “just tell me what happened.”

“i might’ve had a few shots.” Calum admits, and you throw your head back and squeeze your eyes shut. “i kissed her a few times, one thing led to another and”

“did you sleep with her.” you don’t even ask it. you’re stating it, because you know it happened. you just need to hear him say it.

“i slept with her.”

you throw the magazine down in a fit of rage and head to your shared bedroom and begin throwing his stuff back in his suitcase.

“what are you doing!” Calum yells, looking at the clothes you’re throwing into his suitcase.

“i’m packing your stuff since you obviously don’t know how to keep it in your pants!” you scream back, tears falling down your face.

you’re so angry you’re shaking, you can’t believe Calum would actually sleep with a girl, especially after everything the two of you have been through.

“you’re being ridiculous!” Calum yells at you. “you act like you haven’t made mistakes before!”

you look at him through your tears and scoff. “you can’t be fucking serious. you cannot be fucking serious! get out of my life!”

“you’re being a child about this!” Calum says. “i can’t believe i even gave you that ring.”

you look at the promise ring on your left ring finger. you rip it off. “fine! take it! i obviously don’t need it anymore!” you scream. “i can’t believe i was so stupid.”

“you can’t leave me!” Calum screams. “you know you’ll come crawling back.”

“fuck off!” you yell as you run out of your shared home, not sure what your next move is going to be.

it’d been a long night. you’re tired and just want to sleep, but it’s odd sleeping without Calum next to you.

you can hear him in the other room writing and playing his keyboard. writing an album was always Calum’s favorite part of the process, but he hated how it kept you up late at night when you should be sleeping.

“honey, it’s late. come to bed.” your voice is quiet as you stand in the doorway of Calum’s guest room turned music studio.

“baby i can’t get this part right.” Calum says, looking up at you. his big brown eyes look at you and you feel your knees weaken when he looks at you so helplessly.

“is there anything i can do to help?” you ask him.

Calum looks around the room and sighs. “i mean i miss you. you should come here and sit on my lap til i’m done.” he says.

you follow his instructions and sit on his lap, tapping a few keys on the piano.

“play me what you’ve got so far.” you say, turning around to kiss his nose for a brief moment.

he presses a soft kiss onto your back and you watch as his fingers play with the keys on the keyboard, and the two of you figure out how to finish the song he started hours ago.

summary: moving to a new area meant leaving behind the city you grew up and the life you once knew so well. But what does this new house have in store, and more importantly what is it you keep sensing in the woods?

Carrying the last box out of the car and up the stairs into your room, you set it down and looked around at your new room. Living in the city was all you had known for the last 17 years of your life and to say your new home was different from the city was the understatement of the year. It was the complete opposite of what you grew up in, it was spacious, quiet, and isolated. Although thats why your parents had said they wanted the move, they had finally grown out of the hustle and bustle of the city while you had just grown into it.

You felt deprived of your voice since you were anything but willing to move into the middle of no mans land, but there was no turning back now so what was the use in fighting it? The large house lay on the outskirts of DuBois Pennsylvania, surrounded by miles of trees and nature in any direction and only a handful of neighbors.

You headed downstairs to see if there were any other boxes to bring in. Met by the sight of your mom talking to an older couple who you assumed were some new neighbors. They hadn’t noticed you so you slinked around into the kitchen to grab a glass of water. And although you had been driving and carrying boxes all day you were surprisingly wide awake. 

You waited for the couple to leave in the kitchen so you could talk to your mom about the details of the week to come. Which without a doubt would involve more work than you were willing to put in.  Hearing the front door close you looked up as your mom walked in.

“Hey sweetie, what do you think of the new place so far?”  She knew you weren’t as thrilled about the move as she was but she was trying to make you as happy as you could be. Which was as much as you could ask for in all this.

“Bigger than I was imagining” you expressed looking around at the room around you which really was so much more than you were used to.

“Yeah you can get more bang for your buck out here. Its gorgeous though isn’t it” she said peering out the glass doors to the forest that went on for miles just outside your backyard. It was but you weren’t about to tell her that just yet. After talking a bit more you both decided to go into town and get some diner for the night.

As you headed down the driveway you stared out the window in to the dark underbrush of the woods. It seemed odd but you just felt like you were being watched. You looked over and your mom still had her eyes on the gravel road ahead of you. Peering back out the window you could have sworn you saw a black tale rushing between the bushes.

“Did you see that mom?” you weren’t sure what you saw but you knew it was big whatever it was. She looked out your window seemingly not as interested as you were.

“It was probably just a deer Y/N. There’s lots of them ‘round here”

“No it looked more like a wolf…but almost bigger? Are there even any wolves in Pennsylvania?” you asked trying to recall the animals of the area you read about when you looked up information on your new home. She chuckled obviously finding your remark funny.

“No sweetie there aren’t any wolves around here, I’m sure it was one of the neighbor’s dogs that got loose. But there are bears in the area so if you go out in the woods be sure your careful” You knew what you saw definitely wasn’t a bear, but maybe your mom was right. You were probably more tired than you thought and it probably was just a big dog. A really really big dog.

When you got home and all the food was gone you headed upstairs to get ready for bed. As you switched into a big night shirt to sleep in you felt it again. You were being watched. You slowly headed towards the window facing the forest and gazed out, the moon illuminated the treetops. Slivers of light fallen through the canopy to the forest floor let you see bits and pieces of the ground. Feeling the hairs on the back of your neck rise, you knew there was something out there.

That’s when you saw it. Blending in perfectly, using the cover of night as its camouflage. Only the movements of the silver light letting you know it was there. It was retreating deeper into the darkness, and you could feel the atmosphere in the room return to normal. When it was near, whatever it was, you didn’t feel scared but instead very uncertain. You felt nervous and intrigued. You knew you shouldn’t, but you desperately wanted answers. And the only place you were going to get them was in that forest.
