CALX launches June 4 for PC, later in 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series, and Switch - Gematsu
Atmospheric action adventure game CALX, formerly XTAL, will launch for PC via Steam and Epic Games Store on June 4, followed by PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Switch later in 2026, publisher Dear Villagers and developer True Colors announced. A demo is currently available for PC.
“Our intent while creating CALX was to fully immerse players in a distant, alien planet,” said game and narrative designer Gabriele Ferreccio in a press release. “We wanted to recapture that feeling of isolation and discovery that we felt with games like Metroid and Hyper Light Drifter. This can only be possible if every part of the game works towards the same goal: harmony through gameplay, art and music. We hope players will find their journey to Syro worthwhile.”

About
CALX is an atmospheric 3D action adventure inspired by visionary science-fiction art. Explore planet Syro—vast landscapes filled with crystal structures and ancient technology. Find out what the WARP did to the Quoths civilization. The environment guides you, revealing secrets through exploration. The game moves between stillness and frenzy. Silent moments give way to frantic fights in a rhythm like waves—contemplation, then action, then back again. Art and music work in tandem. The mesmerizing visuals shape the soundscape, and the music breathes life back into the art. You are alone on Syro, but not lonely. A speck of dust in a vast, mysterious world. Movement Opens the World
Movement is your main tool. Double jump, air dash, levitate, and use a grappling hook to reach new areas. The world is interconnected. It opens as you gain new abilities. Rediscover hidden paths through revisiting old areas. The world tells its story as you explore. Secrets are concealed in ruins. Puzzles emerge as you investigate. The environment reveals the past events.
Contemplative, With Meaningful Combat
Your companion AFX travels with you and grows stronger as you progress. Combat mixes melee attacks and ranged shots. Perfect your ‘dodge’ timing to gain tactical advantages in fights. You’ll collect upgrades throughout your journey. These enhance your combat and movement skills. Find new weapons in the ruins. Each one changes how you approach fights. Fights test how well you move, not just how fast you attack. Combat areas work like movement puzzles. Your mobility matters as much as your weapons.
Different Zones, Different Moods
Each area has its own feel. Some are quiet and still, while others pulse with strange energy. The game values calm moments as much as action. You upgrade by finding pieces of old technology. These upgrades change how you move through the world. Choose freely which areas to explore next CALX is about 10 to 15 hours long. Reminiscent of classic action adventure games.

An art gifting game
lovesick (albedo x gn!reader)
Albedo's now sick, and while you're used to him falling ill, it's his boldness that comes along with it that never fails to catch you off guard.
“Achoo!”
You fought the urge to roll your eyes, hands occupied on making food. Albedo sees your expression and sighs, “I’m really fine, (Y/N).”
“If you think you’re fine after fainting due to exhaustion, then I'm not sure if you’re any better than Jean and her workaholic habits.” You murmur under your breath, glancing at your superior’s laying form on your bed, with his disheveled hair and sunken eyes. “Albedo, please consider taking a couple days off. Sucrose and I can vouch for you while you rest.”
Albedo doesn’t look amused, “I can’t just let you two do all the work. I’m supposed to be there to lead this experiment.”
You knew he wouldn’t consider your offer, but it was worth a shot to persuade him. You say nothing else and rummaged through your cabinets, grabbing some medicine.
“You don’t need to do all of this for me.” He says as you make your way towards him after, carrying a tray of food.
“But I want to,” You reply, placing the tray near his bedside, “Please eat up and take these medicines, we can resume the experiment later in the afternoon and when your fever’s gone.”
Albedo just nods as he starts eating without protest. You're at least relieved that he’s willing to take a break for the rest of the morning.
“Rest well, Albedo.” You offer the latter a small smile and make a move to stand up when you suddenly feel a hand coiling around your wrist.
“Don’t go,” Albedo’s hand move towards your arm, pulling you close to his side. “Stay with me, please?”
You could feel your face heat up as he inches closer. You were now facing each other, forehead almost touching. “A-are you sure you don’t want to be alone?” You stammered.
“Rest with me.” He pleads, a small frown on his flushed face. “I don’t want my favorite alchemist to end up with the same circumstance as mine due to them overworking too.”
You make a noise, a mixture of a scoff and a laugh. “I’m your only fellow alchemist, Albedo”
Albedo cups your cheeks with a smile, “That’s because you’re all I’ve ever needed.”
A lil messy gift for a friend featuring our personal characters Calx & Saccharyde 🫶 figured I could count it as a hug :) kinda fun to revisit headword stuff.
