So Harry died in that forest but came back nice and peachy right after dying and going to and back from limbo (sans horcrux)?
You’re telling me he’s fine and dandy after dying and coming back? NUHUH! I say his whole world is knocked of kilter from that moment on. He had a horcux, a however small piece of soul nestled in his own for 16 years and to have that ripped out must be HARROWING! Imagine someone taking a bite out of YOUR soul. That soul piece was in all essence merged with Harry’s, if you ask me.
Anyways what I wanted to get at is the potential of the ‘came back Wrong/Changed’ trope in fiction. Think Falin, think Dokja(/joonhyuk/sooyoung), Buffy, Frankenstein’s creature if you must, think Tom Riddle slowly disintegrating as his soul gets chipped away, idk any others rn!
But imagine him coming out of that forest, still Harry but some part of him will be forever changed, forever left in that forest. Others won’t notice, but Hermione and Ron will. it would take him very long to get used to a distant hollowness now haunting him. Something which was there, now not. It might be discarded as trauma from the war, but this lay deeper. A chip carved out of his soul. Young warrior boy will never completely get to leave the war truly behind him, with the print of it so obviously left on him.
There is so much left to be explored there it’s honestly such a shame Jo Ro never explored it, but also REALLY GREAT that the fandom can now just take that shit and run.
