I am not a typical filmmaker (whatever the fuck that is), and up to know I’ve been more intimidated by that than proud. I shoot with my iPhone because that’s what I have access to. I edit with iMovie because that’s what I have access to. 1. I fucking LOVE Apple. Cloud storage and device integration are fucking incredible. My Apple Watch is also a mini monitor for my camera, my iPad is fantastic for editing stills and reviewing footage, I can access anything I write on my Air Book on any other device, and Cloud storage means I don’t have to worry about always having external storage. 2. The improvements on iPhone cameras and with iMovie software mean I can shoot and edit my medium (documentary) competitively. Also my friend just gave me his old iPhone, so now I have a Camera 2! And yes, I know there will be a discrepancy between the two phones, but with studio lighting, at worst it will be a backup camera. I’m doing my first shoot for my first episode at the end of the month, and I am SO FUCKING STOKED. That stupid broken leg and family emergency and stupid necrotic ovary totally tanked 2018, but god willing and the creek don’t rise, I’m finally doing this, and I am PROUD of my resourcefulness and dogged determination.
