Me: yeah so if you think about it Cameron was just doing what he thought was right because he was raised in a generation where it was the norm to conform to your elders and to follow the rules and he definitely wanted to be the best and continue his education so by snitching on his “delinquent” friends, he was just trying to save himself which is so upsetting when you think about it because the movie is all about being able to do something for yourself and even then he couldn’t really do anything for himself-

Cameron was close to pitts, not as close at pitts and meeks were but they were good friends and I LIVE BY THIS LIL FACT he's seen in the background of scenes talking to pitts included the deleted ones and pitts is the only poet that wasn't mad at him for telling nolan about the club, while everyone else was mad at him and were closer he was in the background just looking at him sadly

Cameron and him are shown talking in the background talking about hair bushes to keep their flat tops presentable then in the scene they're getting ready for the play pitts has one🤲 They were also were the only ones who didn't agree immediately to joining the society

They're shown standing next to eachother frequently btw🤞

could he have handled it better? significantly.

I won't directly mention anyone, but if you're not used to the Tumblr DPS Fandom and why we are literally sane enough to forgive a fictional character and not slander him so harshly (jokes and critiques aside), I guess don't interact with posts that are Pro-Cameron/Cameron-Apologists?

Simple Points: He was a teenager at a time period where you can easily manipulate their decisions. He was an honor student, ANY ONE WITH THAT AMOUNT OF STAKES WILL WEIGH THEIR OPTIONS DIFFERENTLY. Yes, DUH, it was unfortunate/rude he was disloyal to his friends, that was the point of his character BUT, you'd be as evil as Mr. Nolan and Mr. Perry to blame all this on a kid who was just following the RULES, RULES MADE BY THE ADULTS, THE SYSTEM THEY WERE MEANT TO GO AGAINST.

We're not saying Cameron is a Saint in that movie, also he was bullied more by Charlie tbh, we're saying Cameron is one of the most realistic characters in that movie. Not everyone is able to just blatantly do what they want like Charlie, or be a shy brave boy like Todd, or even be a rebellious as Neil-- But I know for a FACT, anyone would know Cameron's emotions if they were in his shoes.

Remember: HE LET KEATING FRY because he was an ADULT. It was LITERALLY the simple answer and the safest, yes, wrong to most of us, but who else could he blame? Even if he could bring down himself and the others, that's 6 Student expelled vs an adult who can still get a job/has a future/ has a degree. MY BOY CAMERON BASICALLY DID THE TROLLEY PROBLEM.

In conclusion, It's a 32yo movie, people are way more complex than "bad guy/good guy", don't interact with Pro-Cameron posts if you don't get why we like him, Cameron's White Jumper is adorable, Have GREAT DAY.

Also, even Dylan Kussman said there was a possibility of a Cameron redemption arc with the spin off they made with Gale Hansen (help fact check!)
