Question for the bofb document nerds

So everywhere I look for Eugene roe it lists him as receiving a sliver star however I was under the impression of foleys recommendation never going high enough for it to be processed and given so do we know if this is for like a different event than what foley was trying to get him one for or was this somthing given postmortem /post war?? I'm yet to find documentation of this sliver star unlike the documentation of his purple hearts soo could this also be a document lost in that national records fire in the 70s ? I know some other personnel files from the 101st were lost

I have his discharge paperwork but nothing else and at this point I don't remember if I requested his file or not, but most all Easy guys things burned unless they were in Reserves for a while.

However, it's only a Bronze Star on his discharge with one Oak Leaf, so it may have been the one that everyone who served in all the campaigns got when Taylor decided to give them out in 1945. I don't have his paperwork for this one. I have the purple heart orders.

Adding some more on I think the confusion with his medals might comes from these fan made shadow boxes ? I think it could genuinely be that everyone ran with it upon seeing these but from what I know these aren't Eugene's real shadow boxes, I haven't seen his if it's out there but I'm assuming his is probably in his family's private collection or in a museum with no digital archive that's public

I'm assuming most of these creators either say foleys quote or a random website that listed it and added it to the shadow box and ran with it

wife of Pfc. Eugene Roe, who is now in Holland with American paratroopers. Mrs. Roe was the former Vera Hunt of Swindon, Wiltshire, England. The marriage took place in England in June of this year.

Mrs. Eugene Roe Arrives Here From England:

We wish to welcome to our community Mrs. Eugene Roe, the former Miss Vera Hunt of Swindon, England, who arrived here last Sunday, April 7th. Mrs. Roe arrived in the States last week aboard the QUEEN MARY.

Her husband, until his discharge sometime in January, was a Sergeant in the Army Paratroopers. Sgt. Roe saw overseas duty in England, France, Belgium, Austria, Holland, and Germany and was a member of the 101st Army Paratroopers, 506th Division which was at Bastogne during the "Battle of the Bulge". He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward M. Roe of this city.

Lewis Nixon, who was enjoying his favorite beverage, Vat 69, which Winters felt his friend consumed far too liberally. Ever since they had know each other, Nixon had been a hard drinker, and he had taken to hiding his stash in Winters' baggage during moves, knowing that it would remain undetected there.

"That stuff's going to kill you one day, Nix," Winters commented.

Nixon held up his flask in mock toast. "Here's to that day," he said and took a slug. He offered it to Lipton, who shook his head.

The Van Oers had a radio that Nixon had turned on and was now belting out a Benny Goodman tune.

Eugene Roe thinks the U. S. Para-troopers are a grand outfit. He got his wings April 28 at Fort Benning, Ga., and was then transferred to Camp Mackall, N. C. Since then he has had a ten-day furlough [mandatory leave] at home with his family and friends. On Tuesday night of last week - his last night here - his friends gave him a party at the Hub Club. Rowena Rutledge, Jenny Fergerson, Jackie Abbot, Theno LeBlanc and others were there to give him a good send-off.

Pfc. Eugene Roe of this city was one of those plucky paratroopers who landed in France on D Day. He wrote home after the invasion to say: "We were really scared but they were more afraid of us. They call us "the Yanks with the big pockets who don't know how to stop". I wish I could have taken pictures from the time the "show started". No one will ever believe the story we could tell. I came thru the invasion without a scratch but there were times when I wouldn't have given 2c [??? Anyone know what that means] for my life."

Eugene tells his family that when he gets back to England there is a girl by the name of Vera Hunt whom he hopes to make his bride.

Hey guys so WHERE is this photo from I found it on my rabbithole of looking at photos and I'm assuming it's a deleted scene?? is it a promo shot ? I'm assuming it wouldve taken place during bastogne (maybe foy but prolly bastogne though) because of the frost/snow on the vehicle and because roe has the tanker on he only gets after ep5
