“Did you paint all of these?” Sam asked as his eyes scanned over the dozens of paintings in your tent.
“Yeah!” You smiled proudly. You loved painting. You don’t know if you painted before the accident but you did now.
“These are beautiful” Mary commented and you blushed.
“These are all religious events” Cas noted and you shrugged.
“I don’t know about that” You laughed, twirling your paint brush. “I’ve always felt a connection to religion but everything I paint isn’t exactly based on anything in the bible”
Lucifer’s eyes were focused on one of you larger paintings. It was of a blonde man, with gigantic wings sprouting from his back. But it wasn’t just a man, in a lighter stroke, Lucifer could see his true form. Lucifer’s eves traveled down the arm of his first vessel to wear it met the hand of another. He stared at the abused and tortured woman, the bruises and cuts lacing her arms.In the painting, he couldn’t see the woman’s face but in his memory he could.
Lucifer felt nothing but rage as he watched the scene unfold in front of him.
How could humans do that to one another?, Lucifer would wonder.
He could hear the woman’s screaming and pleading with the men as they beat her. He turned away, ready to leave them, to obey his father’s orders not to interfere with the humans.
But then he felt guilt as he heard her whisper quietly.
“ God of all comfort, our very present help in trouble, be near to me. Look on me with the eyes of your mercy; comfort me with a sense of your presence; preserve me from the enemy; and give me patience in my affliction. Restore me to health, and lead me to your eternal glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. “
“Do you like it?” You smiled shyly up at the familiar man as he stared at your painting. “I painted it in the hospital, after the accident. It was inspired after a dream I had. The first dream I remember”
“It seems more like a nightmare” Lucifer whispered.
“Maybe in the beginning” You smiled sadly. “But he saved her”
Lucifer looked down at you. He had missed you so much. For the millennia he’s been alive, he has only wanted one thing truly. You. To see your deep e/c eyes and your beautiful h/c hair. You were a goddess to him.
He had kept the image of your dying body in head for so long that he turned bitter. Angry. Hateful. But all it really was, was mourning. He had lost the one good thing he had done.
“I wonder if I’m basing him off of someone I knew” You spoke, snapping Lucifer out of his thoughts. “He’s the star of a lot of my paintings”
“May I see them?” Lucifer asked and you smiled up at him, making his grace stir. While he loved that feeling, it reminded him of how he had created you. And that memory tormented him.
You lead Lucifer over to a pile of paintings that you kept in the corner, you hadn’t been able to display them yet.
You looked through the paintings and pulled out one that you had painted recently. Lucifer inhaled at the sight of that scene.
“Hello, Y/n” A deep voice said and you looked away from the painting you had been adding your finishing touches to.
“Who are you?” You stepped back, slightly afraid.
“My name is Raphael” The man spoke, giving you a slight smile. “I am one of Lucifer’s brothers”
You furrowed you eyebrows. While you knew Lucifer had brothers, he had never spoken about them. That worried you.
“He has sent me here to collect you” Raphael spoke again.
“Why could he not come get me himself?” You asked, not ready to trust anybody but Lucifer.
“He is busy doing God’s work” Raphael explained. “Lucifer wants you to meet our father, Y/n”
Your eyes widened in shock and excitement. You were going to meet the creator of the universe and so much more. You felt lucky.
“Really?” You asked and Raphael nodded. “I would feel much more comfortable if Lucifer came to get me, himself”
“Do you, not trust Lucifer?” Raphael asked and you frowned.
“Of course I trust him” You did. You trusted Lucifer with your life.
“Then you do not believe he cares for you?” Raphael looked confused and so were you.
“I know he cares for me” He wouldn’t have saved you and gave you this power to protect yourself if he did not.
“Then why would you believe that he would let someone cause you harm? I promise, if I was any threat to you, Lucifer would have smote me down already” Raphael explained. And you took his hand, letting yourself believe him.
“This one was filled with confusion and uneasiness” You explained as you stared intently at the painting in front of you.
“Y/n-”
“So what are we going to do now?” Jack cut Lucifer off.
“What?” Lucifer glared at Jack.
“Is Y/n coming back to the bunker with us?” Jack further explained.
“The bunker?” You furrowed your eyebrows. That sent a strike of fear into your heart.
“Don’t be afraid, dewdrop” Lucifer stared down into your eyes.
For a split second, you had flashbacks to the same man in your paintings calling you that. And for the first time in a long time, you felt safe.
Connor believed that he was thinking logically when his programming deducted that the odds of you speaking to him ever again were slim to none. But in hindsight, that was his deviancy. It was his fear that made him believe that you would hate him forever.
“Y/n-” You cut Hank off by pushing past him.
“Where is he?” You growled, the alcohol still burning through your veins.
“He’s asleep.” Hank lied and you gave him a flat look.
“Androids don’t sleep.”
“Y/n just-”
“She is correct, Lieutenant. I do not sleep.” Connor spoke up from the kitchen.
You spun on your heels and glared at the android in front of you.
99.9% possibility of anger.
Connor felt something in his chest. It made him feel on edge. He didn’t like this feeling.
“Detective-”
“Don’t ‘Detective’ me.” You hissed at him. “What the hell was that?”
“I’ll be in my room.” Hank grumbled, leaving the two of you alone.
“I apologize for my actions earlier this evening, Y/n. I hope Detective Reed is alright.” Connor spoke robotic, which only fueled your anger.
“You broke his nose.” You crossed your arms. “Do you know how much begging I had to do to make sure he didn’t go to Fowler?”
“Most likely, a lot.” Connor nodded.
“Damn right, a lot.” You glared harder at him.
Connor didn’t like how he felt under your stare. He was getting the urge to run away, making him shuffle on his feet. He was trying to keep eye contact with you but the blaze of anger behind your e/c eyes was both exciting and terrifying him.
“I do not like the way you are looking at me, Y/n.” Connor tried to sound normal, but for the first time, his words were mumbled. Most definitely a mutation in his programming.
“I don’t like it when you punch my friends.” You cross your arms.
Connor tried to apologize again but he couldn’t. His own anger bubbling in his programming. Flashes of you and Gavin’s past flied before him before his words spilled out.
“Detective Reed is not just one of your friends.”
His accusatory tone made your heart jump. The way his eyes squinted at you made you uneasy. You had never seen Connor so raw with his emotions. And you wanted to see more of it.
“And what if he wasn’t just my friend?” You challenged him.
“Then you would be foolish to choose him.” Connor’s emotions melted away, a calm tone overtaking his angry one.
“How so?” You pushed.
“He could never make you feel the things I could.” Connor’s icy tone made your abdomen coil in desire. You could imagine the filthy things that could leave his mouth next. You wanted to continue pushing this to see where it could lead. But the pain that flashed behind Connor’s angry eyes made you realize how selfish you were being.
“Connor...” You sighed.
Connor felt embarrassment and fear pass through him. Images of you rejecting him flashed through his circuits. He imagined you laughing about his crush with Gavin. Mocking him. He started overheating and had to activate his cooling process before he shut down completely.
“Do not worry, detective. I completely understand.” Connor’s voice was sharp again. He couldn’t make himself sound emotionless... Not anymore. Not since he met you.
“Connor, can you just listen to me-”
“No. No I cannot, detective.” Connor snapped. He’s had enough of all of this. “Becoming a deviant was hard but the months following were easy. It was slow. I felt the same. Until the day you sauntered your way to my desk. Ever since then, it’s been a battle everyday dealing with my emotions.”
You gulped as Connor took three long strides closer to you.
“You are breaking me.” You could feel Connor’s synthetic breath on your face. “Since the day I met you, I’ve been breaking. The android in me is breaking. My programming has been mutating to feel things for you. My processors, my thirium pump, all of it. They’re working in overdrive just to keep up with you and the way you make me feel.”
Your eyes widened as Connor leaned closer. Fury still evident in his beautiful brown orbs.
“You’re making me more human, every moment I’m with you.”
Connor was experiencing something new. His rage was controlling him. He was fighting against his emotions, the same way he had once fought against his programming. He knew he was going to scare you away with everything he was saying. He just couldn’t stop himself. Every time a thought formulated in his mind, he spoke it without weighing the potential damage they may cause.
You tried to speak, your mouth opening and closing, but nothing was coming out. Your heart was pounding, your eyes were hazy. You didn’t know how to respond. But the urge for Connor to come closer, was overwhelming.
“Don’t blame that on me.” You breathlessly whispered.
Connor made a noise that sounded like the hybrid of a scoff and a laugh while shaking his head.
“Who else could I possibly blame?”
Connor lunged for you, pressing you roughly against the wall of Hank’s living room.
“Connor?” You gasped.
“I should hate you. That would be the most logical feeling in response to the way you make me feel. I should remove you from my existence. Avoid you no matter what. Then I would be at peace.” The way Connor viciously whispered into your ear made you shiver in anticipation. “But I don’t want peace.”
Then his lips were on yours. It was sloppy and he was producing too much synthetic saliva. Obviously, inexperienced but it was the best kiss of your life. The way he pressed so roughly against you made you moan into his mouth. You never wanted it to end.
Connor ripped himself away from you, a tendril of saliva connecting from his mouth to yours.
“You can be with, Gavin.” Connor spoke his name like it burned his tongue. “But I don’t see the point of feeling, if you’re not the source of them.”
He took a step back, still processing his own words, despite being in control of the situation.
You stood there, panting. Your cheeks were flushed. You didn’t know what to say or do but his words angered you.
“You’re so stupid for an never-ending source of information.” You hissed, making his eyebrows furrow. “I don’t want to be with Gavin. I want to be with you.”
You launched forward, reconnecting your lips with Connor’s. He was still at first, still registering your words before he slowly started reciprocating.
Connor felt like he was short circuiting. He couldn’t keep his mind off of you or the way you shoved your tongue into his mouth. That’s why he stumbled back, landing on the couch with you on top of him.

It was an unexpected friendship between you and Gavin. Especially since how diverse your political views were. You were pro-deviant while Gavin was exclusively anti-android.
Funny enough, Gavin was probably the most liberal person you had known. Until the android revolution. He was an asshole but he was one of your oldest friends.
Your parents were close friends, you both grew up together. You both decided you wanted to join the police academy together after college.
You both differed a lot. Which is why Connor hated to see you two acting friendly towards each other.
It wasn’t unknown around the precinct that Connor and Gavin hated each other. You knew that quite well and would always urge Gavin to grow the hell up and accept that androids were alive. And Gavin loved to rebut that with his belief that your infatuation with Connor was just like the time you guys were 13 and you used the “Virtual Boyfriend” app.
“Happy Birthday, Kitty.” Gavin wrapped his arms around you, using the nickname he made up when you guys were still in diapers.
“Thanks, Gav.” You smiled and leaned into the hug.
Connor was at his desk, analyzing the scene with an intense glare.
His programming seemed to be against him as the big black letters popped up in front of you two.
64% chance of romantic interest.
Connor felt his hand unintentionally ball up in a fist as he searched both of your files, finding dozens of photos of the two of you that looked a lot more than co-workers.
“Connor.” Hank grabbed him by the arm. “Don’t.”
“What?” Connor tilted his head.
“Whatever you’re going over there for, it’s not a good idea.” Hank glanced down at Connor’s balled up fists.
“They are close.” Connor ignored Hank’s accusation.
“Always have been.” Hank nodded, glancing at the two of you.
“Are they..?” Connor’s thirium pump seemed to pump wildly at the thought.
“I don’t think so.” Hank shook his head. “Surprised you haven’t noticed that they were close.”
“She never mentioned it.” Connor felt like something was chewing at him. Something that reminded him of the definition of hurt.
“Before you got here, they were always together.” Hank commented.
“What changed?” Connor’s eyes were watching you as you laughed at something that Gavin had said.
“Connorrr” You slurred as you stumbled through the bar.
“Yes, Y/n?” Connor refused to look at you and you huffed.
“Look at me.” You whined, using your hand to cup his chin and force him to look at you.
Connor’s eyes widened and his thirium pump stirred. He could feel the warmth of your hand and it was driving him crazy. Fantasies of you pulling him close and locking lips crossed his mind before he pushed them away.
“Are you mad at me?” You pouted. “You’ve been ignoring me all day.”
“I am not mad at you, Y/n.” Connor shuffled in his seat, a new feeling of anxiousness settling in him.
“It’s my birthday and I haven’t seen you all day.” You frowned.
“Y/n I-” Connor felt anger bubble in him as he was cut off.
“Kitty! Get your ass over here!” Gavin yelled obnoxiously across the bar.
“Give me a minute!” You yelled back.
“Leave robo-boy alone and come play pool!”
You only replied by giving him the finger.
“Are you and Detective Reed dating?” Connor asked abruptly. He analyzed your emotions and came up with the conclusion that you were confused.
“Me and Gavin?” You laughed loudly. “Ew, gross. He’s like my brother.”
“How could you be friends with someone who hates androids? Me?” Connor seemed curious but you could see the hurt behind his eyes.
“Connor...” You frowned. “Gavin doesn’t hate you. He’s afraid of you.”
“Why?” Connor tilted his head.
“Well... He never liked that humans started making androids to do our jobs for us. And then the first case we worked together was the first case I didn’t work with Gavin. And now that you’re deviant, you’re the first guy, other than Gavin, that I’m this close with.” You tried to explain. “And he was terrified of that old Disney movie Smart House when we were kids, that might also factor into it.”
Connor completely brushed over your joke and felt deeply hurt by your words, which confused him because this was a whole new feeling. Of course, since becoming deviant he has felt pain but never this bad.
“You’re close, the way we are, with Gavin?” For the first time since meeting Connor, you actually heard the emotion in his voice.
“Not... Not like we are. But Gavin and I are close in different ways- Connor!” You gasped as Connor abruptly stood up and bypassed you. “Connor that’s not how I meant it!”
“I understand exactly what you meant, Detective.” Connor knew he was acting illogically but the way his abdomen was clenching involuntarily and the flashes of you and Gavin doing the things that he had thought were special between the two of you was too much for him to handle.
“Where are you going?” Hank furrowed his eyebrows as Connor passed him with a troubled look on his face, with you in tow.
“What crawled up your ass and die-” Gavin’s snarky remark was cut off by a loud crunch.
“Connor!” You screeched as his fist collided with Gavin’s nose.
“Whoa-Whoa” Hank gripped onto Connor to stop him. In reality, Hank would not have been able to stop him if he didn’t want to stop.
You bent down to help Gavin with his bleeding nose before glaring up at Connor.
“I-I’m sorry. I didn’t-” Connor stuttered over his words. He didn’t know why he did that.
“Go home, Connor.” You shook your head.
89% chance of feeling disgusted.
Connor frowned at his emotional scan of you as Hank dragged him out of the bar.
“Well, you couldn’t have picked a worst night to have your first fight, kid.” Hank grumbled as you pushed him into his car.
“That was hardly my first fight, Lieutenant.” Connor mumbled, for the first time lost in his thoughts.
“No, Connor. It was. That wasn’t some criminal, it was Y/n’s best friend. You can’t get jealous like-”
“I’m not jealous.” Connor snapped. “I just can’t comprehend how she can do the things she does with me, with him.”

“Where do you think you’re going?” Colonel Phillips grabbed you as you tried to follow your older brother Steve onto the jet.
“I can’t let him go alone.” You pulled your arm away from him.
“You’ll never make the jump, Y/n!” Peggy pleaded with you.
“I have to try.” You closed your eyes and leaped from the slick black car and onto the wheel of the jet just like Steve did.
It hurt a lot more than you expected but you did it. As you climbed up the wheel and into the room filled with knocked out Hydra agents you breathed a laugh. You were in nursing school when Steve and Bucky had left. After months of service as an army nurse, you were reunited with Steve and Bucky. But a few short weeks later, Bucky was gone. And it wrecked you. So you couldn’t lose Steve too.
“What are you doing here?” Steve gasped as he picked up his shield.
“Making sure you don’t do something stupid.” You crossed your arms.
“This is serious, Y/n. These people aren’t going to go easy on you just because you’re a girl.” Steve shook his head.
“Well then it’s not much different than Brooklyn, huh?” You pursed your lips in anger.
Steve stared Bucky in the eyes, replaying that memory over and over. Wondering how he could explain to his best friend what happened to the love of his life.
“I just want to know if she ever... made herself into something.” Bucky lowered his eyes at the thought of you. “Did SHIELD have any records kept on her?”
“Buck...” Steve sighed.
“What? What happened?”
“Y/n died before I went into the ice...”
Bucky felt like he couldn’t breathe. He knew that the possibility of you being alive now was close to none, but the idea that you were gone for so long... It felt worse than anything.
“H-How?” Bucky clenched his metal hand trying to control his emotions.
“The last mission I was on... I was chasing Red Skull. He was trying to nuke the entire planet. I was losing him... Colonel Phillips, Peggy and Y/n... they picked me up and got me to the jet.” Steve swallowed at the memory. “She must have followed me, she did follow me up there. And then... a lot of stuff happened. Schmidt had the tesseract... he was burning up. He grabbed her and before I could do anything... they were gone.”
The images of you screaming and reaching out for him, flashed in his memory. Before the blue light swallowed you both up.
Bucky sucked in a deep breath before turning on his heel and storming away.
“Bucky!” Steve called out to stop him but the sound of a slamming door was his reply.
It was a few months later, Bucky hadn’t spoken about you since finding out what happened. He rarely thought about you because every time your name passed through his mind, all he could think about was how the last thing you felt was fear.
Ever since Bucky was clear minded, he held hope that maybe you were out there somewhere. Old, surrounded by people who loved you. He had hoped that you were able to move on, marry and have children. He wanted to find you, to see you one more time. But he knew the chances of that happening were slim. He would have been content knowing that you had died of natural causes, again surrounded by your loved ones.
But to know that you died so young... so traumatically. It felt like there was no hope.
Bucky sat silently on the couch while Clint argued with Sam and Steve.
“We need to recover Nat’s body. We can’t leave her out there.” Clint grounded out.
“I’m sorry, man but that isn’t the best move right now. We’re still rebuilding the team up. We lost people. We can’t risk anyone else right now.” Sam tried to explain to him.
“One of the people we lost was Nat. She sacrificed her life for us. For Bucky. For Peter. For all of us. We owe her this.” Clint shook his head.
“What-”
“He’s right, Sam. She died for us. We can’t leave her there.” Steve glanced at Bucky, hoping that he would side with them. “Nobody left me in the ice and we didn’t leave Bucky.”
“Seriously?” Sam’s eyes widened. “This is different. You both were alive. Clint even said their was a guard up there. We’re going to start this fight for someone who’s gone?”
“Tell us about the guard, Barton.” Steve focused on Clint.
“Uh.. He was this tall guy. Dark robes. I couldn’t see much but his face. It was freaky. It looked like he was red-”
“Red?” Bucky spoke up for the first time. “His face was red?”
“Yeah, I think so?” Clint nodded. “Why?”
“Do you think-?” Bucky looked at Steve who had a worried expression.
“It’s a long shot-”
“Friday.” Bucky stood up abruptly.
“Can someone tell me what’s happening?” Sam furrowed his eyebrows.
“How can I assist you Mr. Barnes?” Friday spoke, everyone ignoring Sam’s confusion.
“Bring up an image of Johann Schmidt” Bucky was acting out of character but his mind was racing. If Red Skull was alive, so were you.
“Yeah, that’s him.” Clint nodded.
“Who is that?” Sam asked obviously frustrated with everyone for ignoring him.
“He was the leader of Hydra back in the 40′s.” Steve pursed his lips. “I watched him die...”
“But he’s alive.” Bucky cracked a smile, something that surprised everyone in the room.
“Okay, I’ve never seen him show any emotion but he’s happy because this guy’s alive?” Sam said, once again, confused.
“If he’s alive, so is Y/n.” Bucky spoke, staring at Steve. “Y/n’s alive.”
“We don’t know that...” Steve shook his head.
“Well we need to find out.” Bucky exasperated. “If she is, we can’t leave her up there.”
Steve thought about it for a minute. Weighing the chances of you being alive after 76 years before sighing.
“Someone get in contact with Thor. We’re going to need his help.”

Months of Connor feeling his software go haywire, his thirium pump stuttering and his programming getting scrambled.
Months of your blushing, heart skipping a beat and your mind going blank.
And still. Neither of you had picked up on your feelings for each other.
Hank would make little jokes that would go right over Connor's head and make you panic.
It was honestly hilarious to anybody that knew the two of you.
You and Connor established a friendship throughout the past months. Connor would even consider you to be his best friend.
That was why you were both at your apartment, alone on a Friday night watching a horror movie marathon. Connor had been to your apartment various times over the months but tonight would be the first time you both would be completely alone. And that had made Connor’s thirium pump go into overdrive all day long. Hank even took note of it and simply told him to calm down and remember to use a condom, which startled the Android.
“I do not understand why humans enjoy to be afraid” Connor spoke loud enough for you to hear him from the kitchen where you made popcorn.
“Me neither” You walked into the room with the bowl of popcorn. “Maybe it’s the adrenaline. Our flight or fight instincts kicking in without actually needing it”
Connor hummed in response as you sat next to him and offered him the bowl.
“I do not need to eat, Y/n” Connor reminded you and you blushed at your mistake.
“Oh yeah” You laughed.
Your conversation died as you both continued to watch the movie. It got to the cliche part of the movie where the teenage couple decides to have sex in the woods and the killer shows up. Your cheeks flushed as the actress moaned dramatically and your eyes snapped to see if Connor had reacted to this in the same way you had.
But it hadn’t. You had expected his face to be dusted with a purple blush but instead he was staring at the screen curiously. You eyes wondered to his hands where he played with his coin and suddenly your mind was filled with unholy thoughts about the android.
You bit your lip as you wondered how his hands could work in other ways.
Connor glanced at you as if he could hear your thoughts and you directed your attention back to the movie and almost groaned as you realized the couple was still having sex while the killer lurked up on them.
Connor watched the blush form on your cheeks and furrowed his eyebrows. He decided to analyze you to determine what emotion you were feeling.
His programming focused on all of the surrounding factors. The setting, a dim lit room. The scene on TV. The fact that you and him were alone.
Emotional analysis: 98% possibility of arousal
Connor felt his thirium pump stutter and he suddenly felt like he didn’t know what to do. Were you expecting him to do something? Was Hank right about remembering a condom? Did he need to wear a condom? Had any androids and humans have sex since they won the revolution?
“Are you okay?” You asked as you noticed the purple blush and flustered look on his face.
“You are aroused” Connor spoke calmly and you felt instant embarrassment as his words rang true. “And I am not sure what I am supposed to do”
“Oh god” You covered your face in your hands. “Connor I am so sorry. Did I do something that made you think that you had to do something? Oh god. You don’t- You “ You were stumbling over your words as Connor stared at you curiously.
“Why do humans have sex without wanting children?” Suddenly all panic left your body as you had become used to Connor’s questions about humanity.
“Well” You coughed. “For pleasure”
Connor pursed his lips as he thought about what you had just said.
“I-I have a question for you” Your curiosity got the best of you. Connor’s attention was back on you. “Can androids- can they- do they have-”
Connor analyzed the current conversation and the way your cheeks flushed to come up with a prediction of what you were asking.
“Can we have intercourse?” Connor spoke and the way your eyes widened made him correct himself. “Can androids have intercourse?”
“Yeah, that’s what I was asking” You nodded nervously.
“I suppose. There are androids that were made for that purpose” Connor nodded. “But not all androids are built like that. We all are built to replicate the human body but on most the genitalia is non-functional”
“Oh” You felt disappointed.
Connor didn’t know why he said what he does next. Again, he couldn’t control his mouth. Something that only happened around you.
“But mine are” Connor’s cheeks flushed purple at his words.
“Oh” Your eyebrows shot up.
You both stared each other, tension in the air when you asked yet another question.
“But can you feel pleasure? Or is it just like ya know” You mumbled.
Connor furrowed his eyebrows.
“I don’t know. I know that ever since I became deviant I can feel things physically. I can feel pain. I can feel when people touch me. I can feel your body heat. I could not do that before” Connor comments.
You nodded and Connor went to say something when a scream erupted from the TV.
Both your eyes flashed to the half naked teenage girl about to be stabbed by the killer and that’s how the conversation died out.
Later that night, after he had left his apartment and made his way back to Hank’s, he sat on the couch thinking.
He thought about you. About your conversation. He wondered what having intercourse with someone might feel like. And then something new happened.
He started to see flashes of things that have never happened before. Things involving you. Things that he had only seen once. Accidentally when he stumbled across a porn website on the internet.
He could feel his thirium pump start pumping wildly and his systems started overheating as the fantasies, he had decided to label them, got more intense.
“Connor!” The disgusted tone in Hank’s voice snapped Connor out of it.
Connor stared at Hank in confusion. Hank’s lip was curled in disgust and he was shaking his head.
“Go take a cold shower” Hank stood up from the couch, still shaking his head.
“I do not need to shower, Hank” Connor was still confused.
“Well, go do whatever to take care of that” Hank gestured to Connor without looking at him.
Connor glanced down and was startled at the sight of a tent in his pants.
“How?”
“Oh no-no. I’m not helping you with your first hard on, kid. Go to the bathroom and google it or whatever” Hank waved his hand. “Goodnight”

The team sat in the main living space at the compound going about their daily lives. Not one hearing the light taps of feet making her way towards them.
This woman had been smart enough to sneak her way into the highly guarded compound without setting off F.R.I.D.A.Y’s intruder protocols.
If it was anyone else, they would have sneaked into the arsenal they had. Or they would have tried to get into Tony Stark’s lab.
But not this woman. This woman had bigger things in mind. She needed help from the strongest forces in the world. The Avengers.
Though she had known the great Captain America before he was, well, Captain America. She knew him when he was still scrawny little Steve Rogers.
“Mr. Stark. I don’t want to alarm you but there seems to be an unknown guest in the building” Friday’s voice broke out as the woman made her way behind the team.
The team turned their attention to the woman, fully ready for a fight... Until they saw her face.
“Aunt Peggy?” Tony was the first to speak.
“Peggy?” Steve’s voice broke.
“Hello Tony, Steve” Peggy smiled.
“How are you- How?” Steve stumbled over his words, keeping himself on edge. HYDRA had used Bucky against him in the past, what if they were using Peggy as well?
“Well... That’s a long story” Peggy sighed.
“You were old. You had Alzheimer’s..” Tony’s eyebrows furrowed at the sight of his father’s best friend, young and healthy. “You died.”
“I did” Peggy nodded. “But I was brought back”
“Brought back?” Sam looked wary. Unsure of what they were supposed to do.
“I understand that this is confusing. And for you all to understand, you’re going to have to listen without the worry that i’m here to kill you” Peggy was starting to feel her own survival instincts kick in.
“Well I’m sorry if we’re all a bit on edge with the fact that a dead person is back from the grave” Clint spoke up, earning a glare from Mrs. Carter.
“Have you ever heard of Project Regen?” Peggy asked the group. All confused but one.
“Vaguely. From listening in on my father when I was a kid” Tony spoke, still keeping Morgan and Pepper behind him.
“Howard was working on a serum for decades. A serum to reanimate the dead. To bring them back to a point in their life where they were the strongest. Physically and mentally” Peggy elaborated and when the team didn’t reply she continued. “He had thought he had reached a breakthrough the week before his death. We believed that, that was one of the reasons he was assassinated.”
“You’re saying that Howard Stark was trying to create Zombies?” Nat raised her eyebrows.
“He was trying to right his wrongs. Bring back the ones that died before their time. The ones that he blamed himself for” Peggy’s frowned deepened at the memory of her close friend being so eaten up by grief.
“Me?” Steve raised his eyebrows.
“No. Howard had made an educated guess that if your body was intact, the super soldier serum would preserve your body and brain. He was right. He just wasn’t here to see that he was.”
The guilt that swallowed Bucky was physically showing as he remembered the way Howard spoke his name as he snapped his neck.
“So who was he trying to bring back?” Bucky asked.
“I need to show you, for you to understand” Peggy pulled a device. “It’s a memory broadcaster. I need you to see what I remember for you to understand why Howard was the way he was”
Tony nodded when nobody else replied.
“It’s very simple. These attach to my temples and...” Peggy closed her eyes after attaching the final piece to her forehead.
“Is it gonna-” Rhodes was cut off by the small light on Peggy’s forehead, then the room was transformed around them.
“Y/n, are you okay?” Peggy asked.
“Why wouldn’t I be?” You spoke calmly. Your heels clicking on the busy New York street.
“I know you had feelings for him-”
“Peggy. I never had feelings for him” You laughed. “I won’t stay loyal to a dead man but I will never put myself in the position I was when I found out he was gone. Howard and I were nothing but well what we were. There was no love there”
“Y/n... We still don’t know if Bucky’s dead.” Peggy frowned at your blatant disregard for the information you guys had learned several months ago.
“Oh yes, that’s right” You spoke sarcastically. You both were now standing still on the busy sidewalk. “He might be a mindless assassin working for HYDRA. How could I have forgotten?”
Peggy stayed silent and you sighed.
“Even if SHIELD is right. If he is out there doing the things they suspect him of doing. That’t not him. It may be his body but his mind is long gone. And I don’t think their will be any way to salvage what he lost. So he’s dead. And I’m okay with that now” You felt the hole in your heart slowly return as you spoke about Bucky that way.
“I just.. I remember the way you were when you found out that he was gone” Peggy spoke solemnly at the memory of your heart wrenching sobs.
“That was a long time ago. I’ve been through a lot since then. The torture the military manipulated me into volunteering for to recreate the super soldier serum. The missions we’ve been on together. We’ve lost a lot of people. I’ve lost parts of myself. Now the pain of losing him and Steve are nothing but a distant memory”
Peggy went to speak, but another voice cut her off.
“Y/n!” Both of your eyes snapped towards Howard.
His eyes met yours and he rushed down the steps of his house and down the sidewalk to you.
“Y/n she meant nothing to me” Howard pleaded with you.
“Howard-”
“No- you need to know that I love you”
“Howard. If you love me you’re foolish” You laughed innocently. “But I know you’re just scared that I’m upset. But I’m not. We both used each other and I never expected commitment from you because that wasn’t what I was offering either.”
Howard stayed silent and you laughed.
“I’ll see you at the lab” And then Howard watched you walk down the sidewalk and get into a taxi.
“I really do love her” Howard turned towards Peggy and she shook her head.
“Then you are foolish”
“How do I prove it to her, Peg?” Howard ran a hand through his hair.
“Maybe you shouldn’t have half naked women in your house when you know we’re coming over”
The scene melted down around the team, leaving all of them confused.
“Who was that?” Nat asked.
“My sister” Steve spoke solemnly. He had spent a lot of his time thinking about his little sister and what she had been through after his death.
He never told anyone but he still carried the letter you wrote to him after Bucky’s death, telling him to please come home safe.
“I didn’t.. I didn’t know that she even knew Peggy and Howard” Bucky was feeling a range of emotions right now. From anger and jealousy that his girl had been with Howard Stark in such a way, to guilt and shame that he had hurt you like that.
“They must have helped her after we...” Steve trailed off as a new scene molded around them.
“They would make a cute couple” Daniel glanced at you and Howard slow dancing on the dance floor.
“He hasn’t been with another woman since last year when she basically told him that she didn’t want a serious relationship with him” Peggy commented. Still astonished that her friend actually gave up his womanizer ways.
“They look pretty serious to me” Daniel grinned as Howard gave you a kiss on the cheek and wondered off the dance floor.
You walked towards Peggy and Daniel with a blush on your face.
“Are you okay Y/n?” Daniel laughed at your stunned impression.
“He told me that... that he’s going overseas for work” You gulped. “And he wants me to come with him...”
The team barely had time to react as the next scene from Peggy’s memory played.
“I’m asking her to marry me” Howard shuffled nervously in front of Peggy.
“When?” Peggy asked.
“Tonight at the gala” Howard smiled. “I think it’s about time. We’ve been together for three years. Five if you count the two years she tricked herself into believing that she couldn’t love anymore”
“Congratulations, Howard” Peggy smiled and pulled him into a hug.
“Don’t congratulate me yet” Howard laughed but Peggy heard the fear behind his humor. He was terrified that you would run away. “I need your advice first”
“What is it?” Peggy asked.
“I don’t know which ring to use” Howard pulled out two boxes.
One, holding a brand new beautifully cut diamond engagement ring. Something that must have cost him tens of thousands of dollars.
The other was an older looking ring.
“It’s her mothers” Howard explains. “She mentioned that she had always wanted to have it. But... it’s the ring Sgt. Barnes used to propose”
“Oh” Peggy furrowed her eyebrows. “I think you should use the new one for now because I know that she loves you and she wants to be with you forever. But that ring might scare her. Especially now that we’ve lost track of the Winter Soldier project”
Howard nodded, a frown on his lips. But it slowly morphed into a smile.
“Hopefully by tomorrow at this time, we’ll be planning our wedding”
The night went on without a hitch. Until around 8pm.
“Do you recognize that man?” Peggy’s eyes followed the unfamiliar man making his way through the crowd, towards the dance floor where you and Howard were dancing.
Howard hadn’t proposed yet but he had mentioned to Peggy that he was going to do it on the dance floor.
“There’s a lot of Howard’s foreign business partners here tonight” Jarvis explained, but Peggy had a bad feeling. One that she was right to have.
It’s like it happened in slow motion.
Howard pulled out the engagement ring, at the same time the man pulled out his firearm.
“Howard” You spoke quietly, still ignorant to what was about to happen.
The click of the gun, both of you turning towards the assassin.
The loud bang and the chaos.
Your killer was able to slip into the crowd going unnoticed.
“Baby” Howard held his hand to the wound on your chest.
Your blood stained your white gown and Howard’s hands.
You tried to speak but all that came out was a gargling sound and blood dripped out.
“Baby please” The tortured sound of Howard’s voice broke everyone’s heart. “Please hold on. I need you. I love you”
The whole room was silent as the scene melted away.
The looks on Bucky and Steve’s face showed it all. They didn’t want to see that.
“Why did she show us that?” Bucky whispered, the anger in his voice was there. “Why the hell did you show us that?”
Steve grabbed Bucky before he could get to Peggy. A new scene started to unfold.
“Howard?” Peggy’s voice was soft as she opened the bedroom door.
The stench of whiskey was potent and Howard was in bed. Unlike him for a Monday afternoon. Usually he would be at his lab. Working on inventions.
“Howard it’s time to get up” Peggy sounded like she was in pain.
“Why?” Howard’s voice broke. He had been crying. “There’s no point anymore”
“She wouldn’t want you doing this to yourself” Peggy’s words were filled with her own pain for losing you.
“She’s dead. She doesn’t want anything” Howard’s words were bitter with loss.
“Howard don’t say that” Peggy shook her head.
“It’s the truth” Howard sat up, giving Peggy a full view of his tear stained face. “There’s no hope for her like the hope we had for Steve and Sgt. Barnes. We hoped to find Steve. We hoped to get Sgt. Barnes back from those Nazi bastards. But Y/n... She’s gone. I felt her take her last breath. I heard her struggle to speak. I felt her blood pour out into my hands”
Peggy had her own tears in her eyes as he spoke.
“I don’t even know what she was trying to tell me” Howard cried out.
Peggy made her way over to him and hugged him tight, feeling his tears pour onto her shoulder.
“She shouldn’t have fell for me” Howard pulled away with a bitter look. “It’s my fault she’s dead”
“No it isn’t-”
“I hesitated. I should have pushed her out of the way. I should have protected her the way Bucky would have protected her. I should have given my life for hers-”
“And do what? Destroy her the way Bucky’s death destroyed her? She would have been destroyed. You did nothing wrong. HYDRA wanted her dead. They were wrong. Not you” Peggy persisted.
“We shouldn’t have let them go on that mission” Howard was moving erratically now. “If we never let them go. If we trained them better. Anything then Sgt. Barnes would be alive and he would have been able to protect her the way I couldn’t”
“Howard. Howard” Peggy tried to calm him down. “Listen to yourself. You sound crazy”
“He deserved to be with her. Not me” Howard cried out.
“You both deserved her at different times of your lives, Howard” Peggy grabbed his hand. “Honestly I believe that she loved you more than she ever could have loved Sgt. Barnes”
Howard scoffed at the idea.
“She loved him as a teenager. When love was nothing but flowers and chocolates. She loved him. She did. But it was a puppy love. She loved you as a woman. Knowing what she could lose and the pain she could feel. She chose to fall for you. To be with you”
Howard stared at Peggy in wonderment at her theory.
“She chose to risk everything to be with you. I think that’s more than she ever did with Sgt. Barnes”
Howard stayed silent before standing straight.
“I’m going to fix this, Peg”
And then he walked into the bathroom, shutting the door.
The light on the device turned off and Peggy’s eyes opened.
“I don’t... I don’t” Steve sputtered.
“Howard created Project Regen to bring her back because he blamed himself.” Peggy sighed.
“After your disappearance, she was a wreck. She was working 3 jobs to support herself. On the verge of homelessness. The military approached her. They said they needed a test subject who was nearly identical to your genetics to recreate Project Rebirth. They tortured her for months. And she tried to back out but they kept her against her will” Peggy sighed. “Howard found out. Saved her. But she was altered in different ways. She worked for SHIELD because they were afraid of her capabilities”
“The United States Military did that?” Sam covered his mouth and Peggy nodded.
“The three of us were close. They were closer. They had a fling for about 2 years before she went off with him to Europe for work. They came back a year later official. And then she died” Peggy explained. “She was a threat to HYDRA so they eliminated her”
Steve ran a hand down his face.
“Howard spent years working on Project Regen. It slowed down when he met Maria and had you, Tony. But he never stopped. About 2 weeks before he died, he mentioned that he was ready to start animal trials” Peggy explained. “Then he was dead and I couldn’t find any of the work he had on the project”
“I’m sorry” Tony pinched the bridge of his nose. “I’m not following.”
“HYDRA stole everything he had on Project Regen and perfected it. Howard, Y/n and I woke up a few years ago handcuffed to beds. Then they would take each one of us into a room and electrocute us. They were trying to brainwash us” Peggy explained. “Then the snap happened. Enough of the guards dusted and we were able to escape.”
“Everything was chaotic. We came to find you guys and you weren’t here. At some point, Howard and Y/n left. Said they were done fighting. I don’t know where they are now” Peggy sighed.
“So what did you do?” Tony asked.
“I kept track of what remained of HYDRA. That’s why I’m here. They were quiet for a long time until now. They’re planning something and I can’t stop it alone” Peggy eyes pleaded with the teams.
“Okay. Okay we’ll help” Steve nodded. “But we need to find my sister”
“And my Dad” Tony squeezed Pepper’s hand.
“They’re both in danger” Steve glanced at Bucky who was staring out the window with a distant look on his face.

Sam and Dean were frozen in the theatre, courtesy of Chuck who sat to their left, popping a piece of popcorn in his mouth with a shit-eating grin.
“I never wanted a movie adaption of the Supernatural books. I felt like they would suck the raw emotion out of it.” Chuck explained. “I mean you saw Supernatural the musical.” He made a face of distaste. “But they were just kids so I had to pretend like it was good.”
“What the hell is this?” Dean grunted out.
“Just watch.” Chuck focused his attention to the screen as the reel started to play. “You remember this, right Dean?”
You stood outside the motel room door, a lump in your throat and tears in your eyes as you heard her moans. When you heard Sam’s deep groan, you instantly turned away. He was screwing the black-eyed whore in your motel room...
“Y/n?” Dean’s gruff voice spoke and you quickly blinked away the tears.
“Hey Dean” You forced your usual happy smile but this time it was filled with pain. “I just forgot my motel key and I don’t think Sam is in there-” You were cut off by a loud porn star like moan.
“Ruby’s in there, isn’t she?” Dean’s voice was a mix of anger and sympathy.
“Yeah.” Your voice broke. Sam and you had been together for around a year. Your first kiss had been while Dean was in his coma... Your first time was the night his father sold his soul to save Dean... You had finally made it official when he returned from the dead after Dean made the demon deal.
“Come on...” Dean grabbed your hand a led you away from the motel.
“Where are we going?” You sniffled.
“Somewhere... quiet” Dean gave you a soft smile. Something you hadn’t seen from him before. Something you never would have expected since the way he’s been acting since he got back from Hell.
Sam gave Dean a confused but broken look. Sam thought about you everyday since you disappeared from his life but he could never find you because the end of the world always seemed to loom in the distance.
“Turn it off.” Dean begged Chuck. The desperate tone that he only used when his family was in danger leaked into his voice. He didn’t want Sam to see what was about to happen...
There was a park on the other side of the woods that laced the edge of the motel you guys were staying at. That’s where Dean had lead you to.
“I’ve been in love with him since we were kids. I thought... I thought for the first time in my life I had gotten what I wanted.” You whispered as Dean and you walked down the dirt path.
“I know...” Dean whispered.
“I should have expected this though. My life has never been this easy.” You let your tears fall.
Both of you were quiet for a while before you decided to ask a question that had burning at the back of your mind.
“What happened?” Dean looked up at you when you asked. “Down there, I mean...”
Dean stared at you for a while, lost in thought. A pained look on his face as he remembered the things that he had done. But the way you shivered when the wind blew snapped him out of it and he shrugged his jacket off for you.
“A lot of things I’m not proud of.” Dean draped the jacket over your shoulders.
“We all do things we’re not proud of.” You tried to comfort him while sinking into his jacket to escape the cold, the smell of pine and old leather embracing you. A smell that reminded you of him.
“You’re not proud of accidentally killing a person while exorcising a demon.” Dean glared at the ground. “I-I tortured people, Y/n. I hurt them. I wasn’t strong enough so I sank to there level.”
“Dean.” You grabbed his bicep, ignoring the shock in your veins. “We all do things to survive. The only thing important is that you survived. You made it back to us.”
“I liked it.” Dean’s teary eyes met yours. “I liked hurting people down there. What does that make me? A survivor? Or a monster?”
Dean looked away, scared of seeing the look of disgust on your face from his confession but when your soft hand cupped his cheek to make him look at you, all he saw was a soft, caring look in your eyes.
He didn’t know why he said it. Maybe it was the fact that you were alone and Sam was screwing a demon in the bed you both had shared. Or maybe it was the way you were looking at him as if he hadn’t just admitted to being a sadist in hell.
“I wish you had fell for me instead.”
“What?” You furrowed your brows curiously.
“I mean... I just don’t like seeing you upset. If it was us... I wouldn’t be hooking up with a demon. I’d be here, with you.” Dean gave you another gentle smile, something confusing you even more.
“You are here with me, Dean.” You shyly turned away. Confused by the pounding of your heart. Maybe it was because Dean was here for you while Sam was sleeping with Ruby. Or maybe it was because you were actually feeling something for him.
“Exactly.” Dean spoke, making you turn towards him, just in time for Dean to connect his lips to yours.
Dean stared at himself on the screen. He was feeling all the same emotions he had felt when he kissed you all those years ago. That wasn’t just Dean stealing another one of Sam’s dates. This was different. That was something Dean had rarely felt in his life.
Sam stared at Dean with anger and betrayal. Sam knew about Dean’s habit of stealing girls from him but never with someone he actually cared about and loved. Dean would always gloat about it to his face but he had never mentioned this to him. He never even suspected it. What else had you two done behind his back?
“How could you?” Sam hissed.
“Sammy...” The gut wrenched look on Dean’s face told Sam that what he had just saw was different... It wasn’t the same as all the other girls.
The screen flashed to a new scene.
“Oh! This is my favorite part!” Chuck got the attention of the demoralized brothers.
“You can’t go!” You grabbed Sam’s arm. “You can’t go by yourself with Ruby to kill Lilith.”
“Let go of me.” Sam roughly shrugged his arm from you, making you stumble back.
“Sam, please.” You sobbed, the tears leaking down your face. “Do you really think this is the right thing to do? Drinking demon blood! Sleeping with a goddamn demon?!”
Sam glared at you, making you shrink away.
“You sound like, Dean.” Sam shook his head, continuing to pack his bags. Your heart dropped at the sound of Dean’s name like it always did, ever since your kiss at the park all those months ago.
All of the secret kisses, the late night talks when Sam would disappear with Ruby, the days where he would hold you as you cried about the way Sam was acting... The feelings that were sprouting because of all of that. The way they made you wonder why you were still trying to salvage your relationship with Sam. You had seen how Dean had stopped the random hookups since your kiss while Sam, your boyfriend, cheated on you repeatedly with a demon nevertheless.
“I’m scared for you, Sam. I don’t want you to get hurt. I love you.” The words sounded familiar but the feeling it gave off was foreign. Did you not love him anymore? “I’m your girlfriend...”
“I don’t love you and you’re not my girlfriend anymore.” Sam sounded cold. “I haven’t loved you for months and you’re just annoying me now. I’m with Ruby. I’ve been making it as obvious as I can and you just won’t take the hint.”
With that he slammed the motel room door. You felt scared for him. You felt like you needed to stop him. Like he was making a big mistake. But you didn’t feel heartbroken and that told you that you didn’t love Sam anymore like you had thought.
“He finally broke the news, huh?” You glared at the demon to your left.
“Go away, Ruby.” You hissed. “Isn’t he going to meet you-” Maybe it was the fact that you had been working with her for awhile that made you turn away without fear of what happened next.
You were still in the motel room when you woke up. Tied to the motel room bed. It was hazy but you could make out Ruby standing in front of you.
“You’re finally awake.” Ruby gave you a malice smirk.
“I knew it.” You groaned at the throbbing headache that formed as the result of getting hit in the head by whatever Ruby had used.
“Too bad, Sammy didn’t.” Ruby rolled her eyes. “You know I was supposed to kill you the night you cheated on him but well after that heated performance I didn’t think you were a problem anymore.”
“Screw you.” You pulled at your restraints. “If I’m not a problem then why am I tied up?”
Ruby gave a grin that made you shiver in fear. “I have some time to spare before Sam makes it to where I’m supposed to be. Dean’s busy so he won’t be coming back for a couple of hours. And I really don’t like you.”
3 hours and 42 minutes of extreme torture. She had started by cutting deep wounds in your stomach and continued lower... She filleted your feet and skinned random parts of your body. One of your ears were torn off at some point. Your wrists and ankles were raw from where you had been pulling on your restraints. Your fingernails were on the floor somewhere and by now all you could see was your own red blood soaking the bed sheets.
You don’t know how you hadn’t bled out by now but you had wished you did. There was no coming back from this. If you had somehow survived... there wouldn’t be a life worth living after. Even though you had believed that, when you heard the rumbling of the Impala, hope sparked in you. Dean was back. He could save you. He could stop her and save the world. Ruby had explained to you her entire plan while torturing you. How Sam killing Lilith was the final seal to release Lucifer.
“Dean.” The gargled, quiet plea was silenced by Ruby as she used her knife to quickly slice your tongue off. The pain the seared through your body as she shoved the pillowcase into your mouth when there was a knock on the door.
You watched as she quickly changed her clothes and cleaned the blood off of her arms. She strutted across the room to the door. He won’t see you from that angle...
“Where’s Y/n?” You heard Dean demand when Ruby peaked her head out.
“With Sam, obviously.” Ruby rolled her eyes.
“This is their room.” You could hear the undertone of hurt in his voice.
“She wasn’t too keen on well... using the same bed as Sam and I.” Ruby shrugged. “They’re four rooms down.”
“I’ll go make sure myself.” Dean glared at Ruby and stalked down towards the door, fully prepared to bang on the door... Until he heard the familiar sound of a headboard banging on the wall. In a moment he felt his heart tear before pushing it down and backing away.
“I warned you.” Ruby grinned as Dean stalked past her with an angry look on his face.
A gargled noise left your mouth as tears left a clean stream of skin down your face.
“That’s actually some prostitute and a senator but Dean doesn’t know that.” Ruby spoke quieter, now that she knew Dean was in his room adjacent to yours. “He really loves you, did you know that?”
A strangled noise left your mouth.
“I’m going to mix your blood in with the demon blood Sam’s going to drink.” Ruby grinned. “I’ll tell him once he free’s Lucifer.”
And then in a quick slash, your throat was opened and you quickly bled out of existence.
Sam and Dean stared in horror as the screen faded away. They didn’t know... They didn’t know that Ruby had slaughtered you like that.
“So much emotion. I really outdid myself there.” Chuck stood, clapping as the lights turned on.
“I could have saved her.” Dean whispered. He felt dizzy and exhausted.
“Both of us could have.” Sam felt nauseous and disgusted with himself.
“No-No.” Dean spat angrily. “You were jacked up on demon blood. You weren’t yourself. I was. I should have known. I should have-”
“Don’t- just don’t” Chuck cut him off with that familiar dissatisfied look. “Just enjoy my gift while it lasts.”
And then he was gone and the brothers were free to move.
“You-You loved her?” Sam spoke after a few moments of silence.
Dean nodded as he sat on one of the chairs with his head in his hands. He couldn’t get the image of you, tortured and broken on that bed out of his head. A new nightmare to plague his sleep. One worse than all.
“It was just a crush when we were kids.” Dean spoke, trying to hide the fact the emotions he was feeling. “And then you guys got together and I was annoyed and then I got back from hell and... she was so sad.”
“Because of me...” Sam felt his heart break again at the thought of you.
“I never... I never slept with her.” Dean looked up at Sam. “There were a few kisses and some nights where she would sleep in my bed with me. But I never took in any further because I knew that you loved her too. I knew that it wasn’t you hurting her. But I couldn’t let her think that nobody was going to treat her right-”
“I get it.” Sam nodded. “I just thought she was alive somewhere. Hunting, living her life.”
“I thought she would have been married by now. With kids... A normal life.” Dean closed his eyes when he felt his tears well up. “I hoped that she got out.”
It felt like they sat there in silence forever, lost in there own emotions before Dean’s phone rang.
“I’m not dealing with this shit right now-” Dean was fully ready to reject the call until he saw who was calling.
“What game is Chuck playing?” Sam growled when he saw who was calling.
A picture of you, smiling and alive was splayed onto Dean’s phone.

You opened your eyes in an unfamiliar room. You were lying on a standard cot and you could feel the breeze coming in from the window.
You glanced down at your outfit and frowned at the SSR shirt you were wearing. They changed the name of the SSR years ago...
You glanced at the radio and frowned at the familiar show.
“Help me, Cap!” The faux Peggy called out for help. They haven’t played any episodes starring Peggy in a while... Years actually.
Your eyes snapped tot he door where a young redheaded woman entered.
“Hello, Mrs. Rogers.” The woman spoke and you could hear the Russian undertone to her voice.
You would have believed that this wasn’t a trick if it wasn’t for, well everything that was happening.
Howard would have had you in a private hospital. You would have woken up with him and Peggy by your side. And there would be no unfamiliar faces since the Strategic Hazard Intervention Espionage Logistics Directorate wouldn’t risk it.
“Where am I?” You asked cautiously... innocently.
“A recovery room in New York City.” The woman smiled at you.
You evaluated her appearance. She didn’t look like a nurse. The way she held herself told you that she’s killed before. She saw you as a potential threat and you wouldn’t think of her as anything less.
“I’ll ask you again. Where am I? Really?” You stood up.
“I don’t understand?” She furrowed her eyebrows.
“Don’t play stupid. I know that this isn’t the SSR. The most obvious sign is that the SSR doesn’t exist anymore. I haven’t been called ‘Mrs. Rogers’ in over a year as I’m married. You look like you’re ready to kill me if I make the wrong move. You’re obviously soviet trained.” You kept your face emotionless. “So you’re going to tell me where I am. Where my husband in and where Agent Carter is. Or you’re going to be putting that training to use.”
The woman stared at you with the same emotionless expression. “Give me a moment.”
“Fine. I guess we’ll be doing this the hard way.” With that you pounced and the two of you fell onto the floor in the struggle.
You landed a punch to her jaw while she knee’d you in the stomach but after a few moments and a few hits, you were able to retrieve her hidden firearm. But not before she called for backup.
The door opened and you immediately wrapped your arm around the woman’s neck and held her gun to her head.
“Are you okay, Nat?” You froze.
Three men stood in front of you and the woman.
Your brother, Steve, looked older. His eyes held caution and fear. He had his hand held up, trying to calm you.
“I’m fine.” The woman, Nat, jolted, taking advantage of your shock, trying to get away. But you held her tighter and released the safety.
Bucky stood next to Steve. He looked different. His hair was longer, his face was harder. He looked... dead inside. But you expected that.
“Y/n... Let her go.” Steve spoke but your eyes adjusted to the third man.
You didn’t recognize him but he looked familiar. His looks, the way he held himself. The look of concern...
“What’s your name?” You spoke coldly towards the man.
“Tony Stark.” The man raised his eyebrows.
“Stark?” You questioned. You’ve never heard of him.
“I’m Howard Stark’s son.”
“Howard doesn’t have any kids.” You squinted at the man, moving the gun closer to the woman.
“Whoa, whoa.” Steve took a step closer. “He’s not lying.”
“Howard is 35 years old. Not nearly old enough to have a son that age. And I should know.” You hissed. You shouldn’t be sharing this much information but you were panicking. “I’m his wife.”
The shock that showed on all three men’s faces, well it shocked you. If this was what you thought, they shouldn’t be able to feel shock. They shouldn’t be able to feel anything.
Now that you think about it, none of this makes any sense. What use did Hydra have for any of this. Then it clicked.
The woman grunted as you pushed her forward. You stuck the gun in the waistband of your pants and sighed.
“What year is it?” You gulped. You could hear Howard’s voice in your head from a few nights before the mission.
I don’t understand how psychotic soviet scientists could get this close to time travel before me.
“2024.”
You could hear your heart beating and the room started to spin.
“Y/n-”
“I need to know everything that happened after November 16th, 1952.”
The man with the eye patch came back inside with yet another box before pulling out a file.
“Mission Tempus” Mr. Fury read aloud. “Howard Stark, Peggy Carter and Y/n Rogers-Stark were meant to infiltrate a Hydra compound in Ozersk after a tip that said that Hydra was planning an attack on an unknown location.”
“Yes. I know that part. I was there for that.” You glared at the man.
“In the margin are some notes that-” You ripped the file from the man’s hand in haste.
“That’s Howard’s handwriting.” You ignored the way your heart ached. “He suspected that the location was in the past or future but not in present time. Well he was right.” You skimmed over all of the details you remembered. This was only yesterday for you but the way the papers were yellowing and tattered.. It reminded you that this was over 70 years ago.
“Mrs. Stark took the device and headed down the corridor. That was the last time any of the others saw her before the portal was destroyed. She is presumed dead.” You spoke aloud. “Back up agents showed up 20 minutes after the initial explosion. Mr. Stark and Agent Carter sustained minor injuries.”
“What’s in the rest of the boxes?” You questioned.
“They’re from a storage unit where I keep my father’s things.” Tony spoke. “They’re all related to his search.”
“For what?” You mumbled as you skimmed through the rest of the report.
“You.”
Your eyes met his and for a second you believed it was Howard speaking.
“Well...There’s not many boxes here. It is 2024. I assume that if this technology was functional in 1952 that it must be more stable now. You must send me back.”
The look on all of their faces agitated you. It scared you.
“Mrs.Rogers-”
“Stark.” You corrected Mr. Fury.
“Mrs. Stark... When we found your brother, we searched for somebody he knew from before. The only person we were able to find was Agent Carter but she was already in the last stages of Alzheimer’s.” Mr. Fury spoke calmly. “There was no record of you past 1952. You don’t make it back.”
“You can’t possibly know that. Send me back and that might change.” You hissed.
“That’s not how it works, doll.” Bucky’s voice angered you. It angered you because he still thought of you as that little girl that was in love with him.
“Don’t tell me how it works.” You raised your voice. “Send. Me. Back”
Nobody answered you so you turned on your heels.
“Fine. I’ll do it myself.”
“Y/n stop.” Steve grabbed your arm. “You can’t. You need to understand that.”
“I can’t? Or you won’t let me?” You ripped your arm away from you older brother.
“Y/n...” Steve sighed.
“Don’t treat me like a child, Steven.” You growled. “I haven’t been that little girl since you left to fight in a war that didn’t want you.”
“I had to protect my country.” Steve held his ground.
“You didn’t have to leave me in Brooklyn. You told me it was just a show. That you would be back. But you didn’t come back. Ever.” You screamed. All of the anger you held in was coming out.
“I had to save, Bucky!” Steve wasn’t yelling but he was angry.
“And look at what good that did!” You laughed maliciously. “He could have died peacefully. Instead, they turned him into a monster.”
The shock in Steve’s eyes grew at the realization that you knew.
“They called me crazy. They said that it was just my grief taking a hold of me. But I knew the Winter Soldier project was real and I knew that Bucky was their star experiment.” You sighed. “I knew. And they called me crazy. They said it was impossible. No matter how much evidence I showed them. I was a woman who lost the men she loved. So I was crazy.”
“Y/n-”
“I want to go home. To my husband. To my life. And maybe I’ll get there, maybe not. But I won’t stay here. Not with the ghosts of the men I once held dearest.”
