With more Canadians opting for local vacations amid ongoing trade tensions with the United States, Liberal Leader Mark Carney has introduced a “Canada Strong Pass,” calling it a way to make it easier for families and young people to explore the country this summer. Carney announced the initiative Saturday, saying that with U.S. President Donald Trump “threatening our economy and sovereignty, Canadians are uniting to find new ways to discover and celebrate our beautiful country.” “Whether it’s trips to national parks and historic sites, spending the day at a national art gallery or museum, or hiking Canadian trails, my new government will help the next generation discover all Canada has to offer this summer,” the release said. The Canada Strong Pass will let kids and teens under 18 get into national galleries and museums for free and ride VIA Rail at no cost when they’re travelling with their parents, the announcement said.

I've only seen it at FreshCo, but that's pretty much the only grocery store I shop at so if you see it anywhere else feel free to let people know

It's made here in Ontario at a bakery in Brampton or maybe Brantford? One of the Brampts. And I just want everyone to buy so it's popular and stays around.

I'm not gonna lie. It's definitely a little more expensive than regular sliced white bread. I think it comes in at 599 regular price. I usually buy it on sale at 399 but I don't need a lot of bread so it's worth it for me to have something that's a little better quality.

I think people will struggle to fit Prime Minister Carney into the modern Left-Right binary.

On the Right hand, he's ended the consumer carbon tax (maybe not environmentally smart, but politically smart), and supports free trade and a military build-up (necessities given what FOTUS is doing).

On the Left hand, he's got a non-binary kid he's supportive of (socially progressive), he's proposing INCREASING funding to the CBC, and he's proposed a new agency to oversee the construction of hundreds of thousands of homes- the government getting directly involved in home-building like after WWII (economically progressive).

I'm just a dipshit on Tumblr, but to me it hearkens back to the combination of strong national defence and national unity, combined with ambitious infrastructure-building and concern for the public's economic welfare, that got us out of the Depression, beat fascism once, and built the post-WWII consensus.

In short: an old-school social liberal in the best way, without the old-school 40s/50s prejudices.
