Yesterday I got the idea that I needed to visit the Swan Island Dahlia Farm. My morning schedule had just freed up, and my time was all of the sudden my own. I grabbed my camera, a bottle of water, shoes suitable for walking through the fields, and was on my way. Time elapsed from idea to departure – ten minutes.

Driving to Canby from Portland only takes about thirty minutes. The sky was gray and meteorologists were predicting light rain, which was perfect. I didn’t mind a sprinkle or two.

The Swan Island Dahlia Farm is in full bloom – all forty acres. There wasn’t a crowd and the fields were quiet. I slowly walked through the grassy paths on the property admiring the variety of spectacular blooms.

I was home two hours after I got this brilliant idea, with one hundred fifty pictures to sort through. These are my favorites. Happy Friday, everyone!
