Mom and I had the most interesting post-dinner walk today: walking around Live Oak Park wen we see this boy crouched on the sidewalk shining his phone light on something in the street, and as we get closer we realized it’s a live bird! Obviously injured cause it couldn’t fly, and my best guess looking at it was a juvenile hawk so the kid Eric wrapped it in a jacket and took it home. He put it in a box with towels and planned on trying to take care of it until the morning, while I did some research online to see if there was anything else we could do. It looked like its wing was broken and was bleeding quite a bit, so thanks @xchristineee for giving me advice on what to do! Luckily the wonderful @pasadenahumane has 24hr wildlife hotline and rehabilitation center so I called them and they came and picked up the bird fairly quickly. The wildlife officer said it’s most likely a Cooper’s hawk and they will probably be able to heal it and then release it back into the wild so success! Didn’t expect my night to be so eventful but glad we got to save this little one! #animalrescue #wildlife #erictheman #goodjobteam #candiwascurious #humanesociety #wildliferehabilitation #hawkward #mymomwantedtokeepit #nomomitsawildanimal (at Live Oak Park) https://www.instagram.com/p/BqMWlgTgkZf/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1fe02puucfttw
